I moved in while transitioning out of the Navy. My experience was unique. Not the worst, but at times also not the best. While everyone’s experience ranged and varies, I can provide an honest look at what to expect while staying here for 2years +. Like most properties a transition of staff and maintenance personnel could be expected. So I had the experience of going through old to new staff at this property. My move in day: I was never shown the actual unit I would be moving into and only shown a layout on a piece of paper, then shown a display unit that could look similar. Thankfully I am a rather short person, but the unit I was provided on the first floor was a disabled unit. Very low counter tops, extra hand rails in the shower. The door bell was connected to emergency lights and would make an extremely loud noise followed by flashing lights. Can be annoying and a bit hard to adjust to on your own, but I had an Explosive Detection K9 in my home for work and the disrupting noise with lights was not something that was pet friendly. On Move in day another member from the community who also moved in was found in the lobby extremely upset because they were also moved into a disability unit that they were also not explained to, the amenities like lower counter tops and other concerns were very upsetting to them.
Please note: My vehicle was broken into twice while on property and parked over the course of the 2 years I stayed there. my windows were also smashed, NO CAMERAS are on the property except for the lobby / main clubhouse. My vehicle was moved into a private garage when one became available. IF YOU PARK YOUR VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE, and there is a power outage, you will not have access to getting your vehicle out. You will have to pray it happens on a day when the staffing office is open, and they will possibly have access to getting a key for your garage. I say possibly because it’s not guaranteed unless they changed their policy. My vehicle was trapped in the garage on the weekend, could not gain access because there was no power to operate the door to open. The maintenance person I called at the time mentioned “since it’s a weekend and the issue does not involve fire, flood, or blood, the leasing staff would not want them to show up” I needed to work. Also mentioning I have a Working Dog / K9 if an emergency happens to my pet, I need immediate access to my vehicle for important work matters but also to provide care for my K9 if necessary. Eventually the maintenance person came out that day after I offered to pay them in cash. Unfortunately, the keys for all garages were kept in …. an electronic lock box… that needed power in order to be opened… Leasing staff informed me that nobody was allowed to have access to their key for their own garages as it could open other garages.. after some back and forth I eventually ended up with a key to my own garage. Whether or not it does in fact gain access to other garages, I dont believe it to be true but I’m not certain either.
NOTE: 2 Inspections of your apartment are done every 6 months roughly. You don’t need to be present but all pets must be secured. Staff will come into your space and “inspect”. I personally never lived in a complex that did this, let alone to hear of it being done more than once a year.
NOTE: FIRE ALARM TESTING would happen every few months, to maybe what seemed like 1-2 times year, and the last year I stayed there it happened about every three months it seemed. This was a big issue for me personally. I can’t subject my K9 to loud volume decibels above a certain rate, the units from top to bottom and outside would sound off very loudly followed by flashing lights.
NOTE: The pool opens in the middle of summer in June. You can’t have access to the pool, the hot tub is closed most of the year due to maintenance and cleaning constantly. Pool bathrooms are unkept and often messy.
NOTE: Dryer broke down several times due to being old and had belt issues. Had to go one month with no access to a dryer and was expected to utilize a laundromat.
