  I toured these apartments recently and was very pleased with how professional and informative the staff were, how clean the units were, and how great the atmosphere was. The staff answered all questions I had and made sure I had the best experience!

  Chanticleer feels tucked away in Virginia Beach with it's own private grounds, set back from the busy highways and streets. It's a laid back, pet friendly community, with a wonderful, and super helpful staff that pays great attention to detail.

  Honestly, I LOVED living here. I stayed for 2 years but had to leave because it was too expensive and the prices just kept going up. Some things that I loved were: the quietness of the neighborhood, the location is amazing & the staff was always pleasant. The cons: maintenance was TERRIBLE. I had things that were on my list to be fixed (When you move in, most places, give you a few days to let them know if anything needs to be fixed at the initial move in.) and they NEVER came to fix anything that was on there. Also the ants and water bugs were pretty bad. My living room ceiling was also leaking for most of my stay from my upstairs bathroom and it started to mold. I told them about this issue 5 or 6 times and for a year and a half, it was never fixed. It was still molded, when I moved out. And lastly, the staff changed every other week. But overall, this is a really nice place.

  BEWARE. They keep the deposits low by charging multiple non-refundable fees at sign up. Normally, these fees would be part of the security deposit and returned to you when you move out, but Courtyards of Chanticleer makes them non refundable in order to ensure you don't get your money back. This is a cheat, so go somewhere else. If you see those fees and then decide not to move in, they will still charge you a fee despite not signing a lease. It is a shame because the property is lovely.
