I strongly advise anyone considering Cardinal Forest Apartments to think twice before renting here, especially if you're considering a first-floor unit.
Living on the first floor has been a nightmare. The sound insulation is terrible. I can hear every single footstep from the apartment above me, making it almost impossible to relax, sleep, or enjoy any peace and quiet. It's as if the people upstairs are walking inside my own apartment. On top of that, cigarette smoke and even marijuana smoke somehow make their way into my apartment from upstairs, despite this supposedly being a smoke-free community.
The maintenance service is one of the worst I've ever experienced. My dishwasher was broken, and it took four months of repeated maintenance requests before it was finally replaced. Right now, my shower/tub is falling apart, with mud and deteriorating material around it. I reported this issue two months ago, and nothing has been done.
The apartment also has poor sealing. There is a large gap underneath the kitchen door that allows bugs to get inside, including spiders and other insects. This should have been fixed long ago, but it hasn't.
I asked if I could transfer to another unit because of all these problems, but management told me they do not allow transfers. My only option would be to break my lease and pay nearly $3,000 in fees. That is unacceptable considering the issues I've had to live with.
Management also admitted they only have two maintenance technicians for the entire complex, which explains why repairs can take months. Unfortunately, that's not an excuse when residents are paying rent and expect basic maintenance to be handled in a reasonable amount of time.
I genuinely regret renting here. Between the constant noise, smoke entering my apartment, slow maintenance, bug problems, and lack of flexibility from management, my experience has been extremely disappointing.
If you're thinking about renting here, avoid first-floor apartments at all costs. I would not recommend Cardinal Forest Apartments based on my experience.
