  I am going to leave an honest review that can help future tenants. I have been living in Sterling Oaks apartments for years…I will give the pros and cons. When I first moved into Sterling Oaks, rent was cheap. I was paying 750 a month which was ok for a first time apartment. The 750 a month matched the square foot of the apartment, these apartments are not that big inside. To be honest, these apartments are not worth being over 1000 a month, especially the ones that have not been remodeled. Walking into my apartment for the first time: I had to keep from crying. You pay for what you get and the price of the rent showed why they looked so cheap inside. What I should have done was ask for a tour first and instantly regretted it. The carpet looked horrible and had wear and tear, it should have been changed out. A family member helping me move in immediately noticed and stated they did not clean the carpet and it should have been changed. Living Room: very small. Before moving in I traded couches with my sister and I’m glad I did because the sectional I had would not have fit. Kitchen: appliances were outdated. The stove was/still is outdated. The dishwasher was/still is outdated. The fridge was outdated as well. Dining area: very small. A small table will do. Bathroom: the bathroom is very small, I had issues with my shower to where the water pressure was very low. This went on for months, like a year until they fixed something and it came out regular. Bedroom:Bedroom is small but an ok size for just one person. Pros: location: a convenience store is across the street(used to be 7/11 now Freedom Food Mart). Harris Teeter is in walking distance and there’s a shopping center with the dollar store, soap and suds, papa John’s, Chinese food, auto zone, h and r block and other stores. Maintenance: they have always responded in a timely manner for me (except for one time). No Flooding: when we get heavy rain, I am quite pleased at this area and have not really experienced any severe flooding Cons: ROACHES!!! I repeat ROACHES…HUGE ONES!!!! The pest control they use is cheap! The roaches come back in just a couple of months. I would advise keeping roach spray in every room: the bedroom, kitchen, dining area and living room. These are cockroaches, and water bugs and the occasional small roach. Also, when it’s time for them to spray, you have to remove EVERYTHING!!!! This is very bothersome, and also shows they are using an outdated and cheap pest control. My last apartment didn’t require this and I barely saw any roaches. STERLING OAKS I AM BEGGING YOU GUYS, PLEASE FIND ANOTHER PEST CONTROL THATS OF HIGHER QUALITY AND DOES NOT REQUIRE RESIDENTS TO REMOVE ALL OF THEIR BELONGINGS OUT OF THE CLOSETS, CABINETS, DRAWERS, ETC BECAUSE WHO WANTS TO KEEP DOING THIS EVERY FEW MONTHS WHEN THEY REQUEST PEST CONTROL?! The roaches are the reason I have decided that next year I do not want to renew my lease. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES I HAVE FOUND THEM IN BED CRAWLING ON ME!! IF YOU GUYS EVER CHANGE THE METHOD YOU ARE USING, PLEASE UPDATE THE RESIDENTS….I think we would all be happy if we didn’t have to remove everything because that is so bothersome. Noise: they have remodeled some of their apartments. The new apartments don’t have carpet, now you will hear your neighbor’s footsteps more clearly. Employees: they seem to never keep the same people in the leasing office…there’s always someone new (or maybe it’s just me). If you are desperate for a place to stay and this is your option then so be it but I would look for something else….these roaches are the worst thing. A coworker told me their pest control is outdated and that her apartment complex uses a gel like substance and she sees no roaches. Sterling Oaks please do better in this area.

  The ladies in the office is awesome! The apartment is rather small but it is just me so it is cool! I love how Tenika (I am sure I misspelled her name) put me beside the laundry room and the pool because she said I can relax or sit at the picnic table and read. She took in consideration about my personality! It has never been a time when I had a concern and they did not fix it! I have no complaint! Sophia the office manager is great too! The apartments are right at wards corner and everything you need is here! Shopping, thirft stores, take out! I appreciate my little cozy apartment 😃 oh! And I think it is great that the office is open 7days a week! I mean who does that? They also passed out water when we had the hurricane. So nice 🤗
