Very beautiful area. My 2 children and I moved here about 2 years ago and have nothing but positive things to say.

I’ve lived here for a most a year and have had a really positive experience. The community is clean, quiet, and well maintained. Maintenance requests are handled quickly, and both the maintenance team and office staff are always responsive and polite. It’s been a great place to call home.

Don't forget to tell the office the instant you get a rental car, because if you forget they will tow it at your expense the same night that you pick it up with no remorse. Good luck out there!
Edit: Thanks for reaching out Elms, but you have no real desire to help your residents, so you'll have to excuse me for not believing you.

Unfortunately, I will not recommend this apartment complex to anyone at all. I moved out less than a week ago after living in Elms at Centreville for 2 years. I admit that I enjoyed my stay there and the maintenance and office staff have done their jobs properly.
However, when I moved out, I received a "Final Account Statement" equivalent to half my rent of a 2 bedroom apartment. I was charged for "carpet replacement" of the entire apartment, even though we only stayed there for 2 years. We were expected to leave everything in the apartment "as we just moved in". When I called the leasing office for explanation, I was given a bunch of jargon on the lease agreement not taking into account the common sense that you CANNOT keep a carpet in prestine condition while living on it for 2 years. Thank God I moved out after 2 years, otherwise I imagine they would charge me for a complete renovation of the entire apartment...
I lived in 3 different apartment complexes in the last 7 years in Northern Virginia. I've always got back part of my security deposit, and only charged for reasonable maintenance items. I've never experienced such a ridiculous charge on my move out ever. Basically, I kissed goodbye to my deposit of $500 and paid half a month of rent on top of it at the move out. Imagine the financial impact of this to a family in the current economy...
This is the worst experience I've ever had in my apartment rental history in the past 9 years...all I heard from the leasing office staff is "I am so sorry".
That's it. Bye-bye, Elms. See you no more.
For Elms: Thanks for your reply. I do not want to deal with the same leasing office staff since it was fruitless last time and ended with "I am so sorry". If you are sincere about coming up with a solution, you have my contact information at the leasing office. Feel free to reach out.
