  Beware: paying close attention to details when buying from Toll Brothers is crucial. Four months ago, I was filled with anticipation as I prepared to move into my new home with Toll Brothers, a company that prides itself on being a luxury builder. However, after moving in, my excitement waned as I noticed several signs of subpar construction. From uneven walls and flooring to less-than-stellar finishes, it became increasingly clear that the quality didn't match the luxurious image they promote. Things to look for as you walk through: Paint: They applied a primer and only one coat of paint. We painted everything from the ceiling to the baseboards in the basement and will need to do the upper floor next. Lights and ceiling fan outlets don't line up; we had to hire an electrician to center several of the ceiling fan outlets. HVAC: One thermostat for the entire house. The basement is freezing, and upstairs is hot. We will need to pay HVAC to help find a solution. Light switches are generic. We had to replace all the switches in the house. The cabinets are low-end and lack drawers in the bathroom vanities. Kitchen drawers don't accommodate kitchen gadgets well; they aren't deep enough for spatulas or measuring cups. The floor was so uneven that it made the walls and baseboards crooked, too. We used 26 bags of cement and grinding to level it out to a manageable state. The plumbing fixtures and door handles are low quality, with many door handles showing paint wear. Hot water circulation. The plumber told us Toll Brothers didn't want to pay the $1200 for hot-water recirculation. It takes 1 minute and 8 seconds to get hot water to the faucets. The subfloor is paper thin. We had to add insulation in the basement ceiling to help reduce hearing each other's conversations through the floor. The carpet and pad are very generic, and the main rooms all show a big seam down the middle of the floor. The washer and dryer they provided were very low-end and had to be replaced with better-quality ones. The windows are terrible and don't open and close well. The windows seem like a Kirkland brand. Toll Brothers is effective at addressing issues and making repairs, but that doesn't change the fact that the house was constructed with low-quality materials and subpar subcontractors who didn't care. The best aspect of my experience with Toll Brothers has been John; he is kind and has resolved many problems for me. I would rate him 5 stars. However, overall, I cannot recommend Toll Brothers and don't even come close to calling them a luxury builder.

  Extremely unhappy with Toll brother home building experience so far. I expected Toll Brothers luxury home to have superior experience and quality. However, they could not keep their promises and work per blueprint. Every house is different even if it is the same plan and same framing. Like how? It is not even custom and those equipments are standards. They clearly use low experience sub-contractors to maximize their profits and do not care about quality and or customer experiences. Edit: After going back and forth with Toll Brothers, they make everything right. Addressed all of the concerns and go above and beyond - change from 1star to 5stars
