Dear parents,
Don’t have your student live here. The management is shockingly dishonest, there is no parking (which I guess is fine if you don’t mind your kid walking through downtown in the middle of the night because they have to park 2 blocks away), many times my student and roommates felt unsafe, daily/nightly tow trucks are ready to pounce on an unsuspecting resident just trying to run groceries in the house, the ac nor heat worked in my kids apartment (don’t worry, it was “fixed”) and on the very last night before moving out, we literally spent hours scrubbing the apt from top to bottom on hands and knees with roommates and another parent every single detail and still received a load of “fines” for not cleaning properly. Infuriating doesnt describe it, especially after feeling bamboozled by the entire experience of living there. RUN, don’t walk away. Disgusted by this place and overall experience.

I really don't want to have to do this, but I'm nearing the end of my lease at the end of the summer and want to express my concerns with this complex. But one main thing I want everyone to be aware of. SAFETY. is not really a thing here.
- The main door to enter the building at the resident lobby with packages, access to the stairwell without keyfob access, and elevator without keyfob access is frequently broken. Anyone could come in and steal packages, go into the apartment complex, ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN. Not sure how it breaks so frequently, but this shouldn't be happening.
- IF YOU HAVE A BIKE, PLEASE DON'T LIVE HERE. A lot of students, especially in places where outdoor sports are popular, have bikes. The apartment has bike storage for residents. When I was first looking at this apartment, I thought "great! I can bring my ebike to get around town to save gas!" Oh, how wrong I was. Rent with the fees is expensive here; you would think that the amenities would be great and secure. Wrong. The bike storage is frequently broken into, with the door being easily accessible to the public. I mean, you can see it from 700 East. ANYONE CAN TAKE THE BIKES. And they do! In the fall semester, this guy came and stole a bunch of bike parts. I talked to the leasing agent at the time, and they told me that the door was cracked a little bit open, where the person just waltzed on in the bike storage and stole bikes. This has happened multiple times. It even happened to my expensive e-bike. I thought it would be safe since this place was marketed as a safe place to live, especially for students, but no.
- Something important to note is that there is supposed to be security on the premises at night. I've probably seen them out there like once. I know some residents here who are out late sometimes, and they also rarely see them. Instead of spending money on a shuttle that only 2-3 people use a day between Unite and their other property, Montaire in Sugarhouse, this money could be used for the security of the premises and the repair of doors.
Over the last few months living here, I just don't feel very safe living here. If you are a parent looking for somewhere safe for your child to live, this isn't it. If you are an international student also looking for somewhere to live that is safe and welcoming, this isn't it.
There's a lot more I can write about, but safety was number one when I was looking for a new apartment, and I was misled.
