My lease started August 2025 for one year. Last month i got an eviction notice for an unpaid $400 deposit. I contacted the manager & realized there’s new management , her name is April. I told her about my lease agreement & provided as much as i could to show the deposit amount agreed to on my lease was already paid upon move in..
I thought that was enough proof but I still saw the balance on the Alta Vue community account page , when I scrolled Down to the first payments it says “deposit $600”. I was willing to pay whatever IF they could tell me why? considering the lease agreement me & the leasing agent Bri signed STATES $600 deposit , I don’t know where that $400 came from a year later!!!! This is insane.
April, I am highly disappointed how you lied to me . I told you about pervious management slacking & you said to give you a chance to show you are professional even mentioned your years in experience managing properties.. then you go & process me for eviction after I tried to talk about the deposit; called you, went to the office multiple times & you turned me away saying you’re busy yet assuring me we would talk about the deposit . Why?? I told you how stressed I was about this pending deposit situation & wanted to handle it. I’m was unable to function all month from this stressful undefined situation, I told you I couldn’t handle this stress to pls help me figure out the deposit bc I was worried & again, you assured me I wouldn’t be evicted, you said “just pay your rent don’t worry we will talk later” i said ok i will wait for your call or email thank you.. then I pay my rent & now have an eviction notice , my account is closed . I don’t understand why you did this to me instead of communicating like i tried many times but you were too busy

I have lived here for seven months and held off on writing a review until I felt that I lived here long enough to organize my thoughts on the experience. I moved to Utah recently to attend college. Between then and the time I moved into Alta Vue, I was homeless between 18-20 (moved to Utah at 18, was homeless from 18-20, turning 21 this weekend) having to couch-surf with friends, before later joining a program for homeless young adults. This is the very first apartment I have ever rented. It’s been really nice to be able to continue working and my education while not having to worry about where I’m going to sleep or eat, I have a nice clean place to call home.
That said, I have noticed some issues. A big issue, at least in my opinion, is the constant fire alarm going off. Apparently, other residents openly smoke in their units, halls, or elevators which triggers nearby alarms. In April, there were at least six incidents, sometimes twice in one week. I understand that people have their vices, but it’s especially inconsiderate to other residents. Another thing I’ve noticed is people feeling comfortable littering or leaving animal droppings in the hall. There’s always dark spots and stains in the hallway carpet, wrappers and other loose garbage, or dog crap out in the open. I’ve never said anything, because I don’t really want to rock the boat, it just seems like residents and staff alike aren’t as cleanly and attentive.
Open drug use is also a concern. There is often a strong weed smell coming from other units when in the hallway. I’ve also come across several residents who were clearly strung out/tweaking. I don’t want to shame anybody for smoking weed, that seems fairly light and aside from the smell doesn’t really bother me. What is concerning, in my opinion, is tweakers. They may cause a risk to themselves or other residents. I read a review about homeless people sneaking into the building and sleeping under the stairs, but I have not seen this for myself. Maybe because I’ve just been lucky enough not to, idk?
The apartment is located near where a lot of homeless people and people struggling with addiction frequent, so I’d suggest being careful when going out especially late. When exiting the apartment, I’ve noticed that the cars parked on the side of the road as well as construction signs obstruct people’s vision, so be careful.
Along with major concerns, there are some things I have enjoyed about living here. The staff are very kind and welcoming. When I was moving in, they were very open and thorough about the whole process and have continued to be open and kind. When I enter my unit, it feels like I’ve entered my own sacred space. Sometimes, you forget you live in an apartment complex once you close the door behind you.
I’m starting the CNA program at my university next semester, which is in another part of Salt Lake, so idk if I’ll stay here. But so far, I have enjoyed living here:)
