Awesome place! I had my freshman year here, 2025-2026. There are a ton of RM’s here especially the 3rd floor & it’s more quieter (3rd floor is the last floor), but it doesn’t make it any less fun. The ward & the people in it really depends year to year. My ward was chill, it’s honestly what you make the most of. It was still pretty social. B9 is the newest buildings out of the bunch, the only one that has an elevator, automatic doors, & 6 vending machines. It’s close to the Marriott center where the devotionals happen every Tuesday, & by the Canc/Cannon Commons that holds a dinning hall, creamery, a little lobby area, & bathrooms.
Each mens hallway is split in half ward wise, meaning the right side of the hallway is one ward & the left side is a different ward. The bathrooms are near the end of the hallway & are fine, they rarely get full, & if they do just go to the other side of the hallway or floor. Rooms are a manageable size, you make it work, I had a lot of stuff moving in including clothes & I made it work. Plus you can raise your bed to fit stuff under it. There is also a wardrobe for each person, a desk for each person, 1 mini fridge & 1 sink in the room.
The elevator is slow but not extremely slow, I used it sometimes because I’d get tired of the
4-5 flights of stairs. It’s a bit annoying when the people on the 2nd floor use the elevator when they only have 2 flights of stairs to get up, plus the stairs are faster sometimes. The lobby area has 2 single bathrooms, a small public kitchen area that has upper cabinets, a sink, paper towel machine, toaster oven & microwave. Lobby also has a pool table, foosball table, some old couches, a tv, some tables & a piano that works! It has a doors that access the back of the building to a field, a sheltered sitting area, & Vollyball court. And in the front of the lobby is the basketball court.
The basement has laundry room with 5-6 washing machines & 6 driers. The washing machines are the ones that break the most. It’s also tap to pay with your BYU card to a machine on the wall. Best laundry tip is to have a timer on your phone while you’re doing your laundry so you don’t forget about it or so someone doesn’t move your clothes after the wash. There’s no WiFi in the basement & no lobby/kitchen area like the older buildings. The basement also has 3-4 piano rooms that are quiet but all of the pianos are broken, great as study rooms tho. And the elevator comes down to the basement.
Again it’s what you make of it, but is a more social environment, & monthly cleaning checks are easy because your RA is a student as well.
