  If you’re looking for an overpriced, run down apartment, then The Villages on Telluride is the place for you! If you’re looking to live somewhere where car break ins seem to happen nightly, look no further! And if you’re wondering what you’re actually paying rent for, don’t worry I’ve been going on a month without a working washer, so I’ve been asking myself the same question. The best part is paying premium rent for amenities that either don’t work or apparently aren’t a priority to get fixed. The property has definitely mastered the art of charging more while delivering less.

  Do not be fooled by this property's claims of being a luxury community. Prospective tenants are shown beautiful model units, but the reality of what you receive—even in a "remodeled" unit—is drastically different. The rental rates place this property among the higher-end options in San Marcos, yet the quality and condition are more comparable to a budget apartment complex. We visited the property approximately 15 times before move-in and spoke with numerous tenants. Not one person could recall ever seeing the gates closed. It is difficult to understand how a property can advertise itself as a "gated community" when all of the gates remain open at all times. We love three hours from San Marcos and wanted a place we felt out young daughter would be secure and safe…turns out this is not it so far. The condition of our unit at move-in was the worst I have seen in over 50 years. We encountered filth, mold, dog urine odors, and numerous maintenance issues. Closets were missing shelving, the floor beneath a sink was missing, exterior wood had not been painted, nearly every window screen had holes, and the bathtub was covered in scum and calcium buildup that we had to scrub ourselves. The unit was not in move in condition and clearly no staff member walked the units prior to giving the keys out on move in day. I’m grossed out reading other reviews of the management trying to charge tenants cleaning fees upon move out,….we took plenty of pics and wrote everything down because reading that. If they were honest and said the unit would not be cleaned…we’d hired a cleaning service so us aging parents were not scrubbing floors and filth. Two months after move-in, our children still do not have several items that were promised, including a living room television, coffee table, bedroom dresser, and other furnishings. To make matters worse, we experienced a flea infestation that spread throughout the brand-new items we purchased for their apartment. While the flea issue was eventually addressed, it should never have occurred in the first place. What is most disappointing is that after two months, management has still not made this situation right—not only for our children, but for other residents facing similar issues. It is unacceptable to charge full rent while residents continue to deal with conditions and deficiencies that should have been resolved before move-in. This experience has been extremely upsetting. Our children were excited to begin this new chapter and live at this property, but that excitement disappeared on move-in day when they saw the condition of the apartment. Unfortunately, we have heard similar stories from many other parents and residents. Potential renters should carefully consider these issues before signing a lease. We sincerely hope management begins addressing resident concerns and fulfills the promises being made so students can finally enjoy the community and living experience they were led to expect.
