Stacey at McCarty Commons is the friendliest, pet loving, and knowledgeable assistant manger I've had the pleasure to know. The complex is nice the pool is clean and the doggie treats are the BEST! Highly recommended by Kratos and Red!
Wanna have random people that don’t live here and don’t know anyone that does come all the time and hog the pool, clubhouse, and gym? Wanna get your car robbed in front of the camera and then be told they don’t work and you’re on your own? This is the place for you.
Staff is extremely friendly housing is beautiful a little high and not fully furnished but worth every penny every person I’ve met here has had a very similar opinion I just don’t think everyone does reviews (this is one of the events they did with free food candy and popcorn great community for later year San Marcos students - people who are past that stage of life) (and for couples)
I would be careful before choosing to live at McCarty Commons. My experience was disappointing, especially during move-out. We were charged cleaning fees based on photos taken before our lease had even ended, while we were still in the process of cleaning the apartment. By our actual move-out date, the apartment was completely cleaned, yet the charges remained.
Communication was also frustrating. It was difficult to get responses by email or phone, which made resolving issues much harder than it should have been.
Another issue was the patio. Management repeatedly told residents not to disturb the birds nesting there, but we were still held responsible for bird droppings on the patio during move-out, even though we had no control over the birds and no practical way to clean the area.
Parking is also very limited. Be prepared to drive around looking for an open space unless you pay an additional $30–$50 per month for reserved parking. They also enforce towing very strictly.
Overall, my experience was frustrating, and I personally would not choose to live here again.

Good location and decent layout.
Cons: Poor management communication and delayed maintenance.
Review:
I have lived here for 2 years, and unfortunately, the experience has gone downhill. While the physical apartment itself is fine, the management team is incredibly difficult to deal with. Communication is practically non-existent; emails go unanswered, and it is impossible to get someone on the phone.
On top of that, maintenance requests take weeks to be addressed, even for urgent issues like a concern about a neighbor trying to harm my dogs and nothing being done. For the price of rent here, you expect a basic level of professionalism and upkeep, which is sadly lacking. I would look elsewhere before signing a lease here.
