DO NOT SIGN A LEASE. Our last 4 months have been an absolute nightmare.
My husband and I have lived at Mira Vista for 1 year and 4 months. Our first year in our original unit was great. We had virtually no maintenance issues, no pest problems, and genuinely enjoyed living here. That experience is why we made the decision to renew our lease and transfer to another unit.
We deeply regret that decision.
The transfer process was an absolute mess. Management cut our existing lease short and gave us essentially ONE DAY to move into the new unit. We had no reasonable notice and were forced to scramble to move our entire household. We were even charged late fees during the process. Whatever happened behind the scenes, the poor coordination was ultimately made our problem.
Then we moved into the new unit and the problems began immediately.
There was water all over our kitchen floor when we moved in. We submitted multiple maintenance requests before the issue was addressed. Our washing machine was eventually replaced, and then we were left with a HUGE dehumidifier running in our home. It made our household feel sick and uncomfortable.
Because of the moisture issue, my husband specifically requested a moisture test because we were concerned about possible mold. Eventually, the entire laundry room wall had to be removed and replaced.
This was supposed to be a move-in-ready apartment.
Then came the ROACHES.
We have repeatedly submitted requests about the roach problem. The most infuriating part? They keep closing the requests and marking them as completed while we are STILL dealing with roaches.
Closing a maintenance request does not mean the problem has been fixed.
Our bathroom sink has now been broken for over a month. We waited more than two weeks after submitting the maintenance request. It was closed without the issue being resolved. We went directly to the front office to complain about it. It is still broken.
And now our kitchen sink faucet is literally falling apart.
On top of all of this, there is a persistent musty smell in the apartment, which is especially concerning given the water/moisture problems we experienced when we moved in.
And the front office? Almost completely useless.
We have submitted requests. We have waited. We have followed up. We have gone to the office in person. We have repeatedly explained the same problems.
Yet we continue to have unresolved maintenance and pest issues while requests are closed as though everything has been taken care of.
It hasn’t.
The most disappointing part is that we KNOW Mira Vista can be better because our first year here was great. We were happy enough with the property to willingly sign another lease.
Four months into our new unit, we are regretting that decision every single day.
If you are considering moving here, ask very specific questions about maintenance, pest control, moisture/water issues, and what happens when a maintenance request is closed but the problem isn’t actually fixed. And if you do move here, document everything and keep records of every request and communication.
I am not writing this because I had one bad interaction or because something broke once. I am writing this because of four months of repeated problems, repeated requests, repeated follow-ups, and problems that are STILL unresolved.
Mira Vista had residents who were happy enough with the property to renew.
They’ve completely changed our opinion of this place.
Based on our current experience, I would absolutely not recommend living here and we are currently trying to get out as soon as possible.
The photo I put at the bottom is how much water was leaking from the outside of the unit…. Just imagine how much water was in our kitchen. Sadly I did not take enough pictures during this whole process, if I could go back and document more I would.
