I moved into my apartment in Phase 1 about six months ago now, and I am quite happy here. I waited six months to write a review so I could ensure it would be an accurate one. My experience so far is that this is a reasonably good place to live.
Initially I had some concerns about the safety and utility of some of the appliances and other equipment that came with my apartment, as I’m not sure that the unit’s renovations were fully finished before I moved in. Additionally, the unit still needed a good deep clean, which I ended up having to do myself over the next several months. But as far as maintenance goes, Adam and Raul and the rest of the maintenance team responded to my many maintenance requests with patience and urgency, which I deeply appreciated at the time since I tend to get nervous in new living situations even when everything is functioning properly.
Everything that I asked to be fixed was finished within two months of moving in and there were many things on the list. Every interaction I had with Adam and Raul (and the others, though I can’t recall their names) throughout that time was friendly and the team has been very helpful in educating me about the nuances of apartment upkeep as well. Adam in particular will often make himself available to answer my questions when I run into him in passing, which I appreciate since I tend to have a lot of questions.
Recent maintenance requests within the last month have been responded to with urgency, too. I’m grateful.
The office and administrative staff have also been patient with me and the people in my life who have helped me to settle in. Lahana is very professional and she has always worked efficiently to coordinate with the other staff members in helping me to get my various disability-related accessibility needs met whenever I bring them up. I have multiple disabilities and I feel that they are being respected and decently accommodated, minus one recent interaction with staff that I will address later, in person, to clear up the misunderstanding.
As far as other tenants go, my neighbors have all been friendly in passing, though I admittedly don’t get out too much so I don’t know anyone personally yet. Neighbors seem active and spirited and will sometimes play loud music with the bass turned up in the common outside areas during the day and on weekends. Sometimes it makes me smile, and sometimes I get a headache. It’s always finished by 10:00 PM, either way. Otherwise it’s pretty quiet most of the time, for which I am grateful.
The front gates to the complex sometimes get stuck, but there are two entrances available if one isn’t working. There are no gate codes to share with delivery drivers or visitors that I am aware of. Gate entry is accessed through a phone app, so tenants must manually buzz people in when they arrive. There are also two sets of apartments in the complex with the same building numbers, so that can be confusing for visitors, depending on which gate they arrive at. I just give detailed directions whenever a visitor calls confused and I copy/paste the same instructions to delivery drivers in all of my delivery apps.
The central location of the complex is great — it’s a fairly short drive to pretty much any part of San Antonio and quick access to IH-10 cuts my commute time to work and to the medical center by a significant amount. There are plenty of bus stops, businesses, and restaurants nearby that make the area walkable. I’ve noticed that it can be hard to see other people walking around outside the gates from inside my car when it’s dark — for this reason I try to be vigilant about other people walking around at night, for everyone’s safety.
Overall I am pleased with my experience here and I’m glad to know that I generally have a community of hardworking and good-natured people around me to help me get my needs met and feel at home. A huge, huge thank-you to everyone here who has assisted me throughout the last six months. I appreciate you all and I’m glad to be living here. I hope I can meet some of my neighbors soon too.
