Title: Very Frustrating Application Experience
My boyfriend and I recently applied here, and unfortunately, the application process left a very bad impression on us.
The website was extremely confusing, including incorrect square footage listed for the floor plan. When we applied, we believed we were applying based on a specific floor plan, move-in date, and price we saw online, only to find out that the application was showing a different unit, move-in date, and price.
The biggest issue for me, however, was the communication. After submitting an application, I was not contacted with any update. I had to call the office multiple times before I could even get someone to answer and explain what was going on. When you’re applying for an apartment and potentially committing to spending thousands of dollars, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect basic communication.
When I finally spoke with Mari, I explained that I didn’t know the apartment number because I was looking at the floor plan, move-in date, and price online. I genuinely thought that information would be enough to identify what I was applying for. When I explained that the website was confusing, her response was, “I’m sorry to hear that.” While those words may sound polite on their own, the tone came across as very condescending and dismissive, almost like, “Well, sorry about that, but that’s your problem.” I could also hear the frustration in her voice when I couldn’t provide the apartment number. I found the entire interaction unnecessarily rude, especially when I was calling because I was trying to understand what had happened.
I will say that Mari did a great job during our initial tour, and Amy and Cynthia were both very nice when I was eventually able to speak with them. However, the customer service during the application process was completely different from the experience we had during the tour.
I have worked in property management myself, so I understand that things can get complicated during the application process. What I don’t understand is making a prospective resident feel like they’re a problem for asking questions and trying to understand what they’re applying for.
We ultimately decided to go with another property that offered us a better rate and, honestly, a much better experience with the staff. When you’re asking someone to spend a significant amount of money to live at your property, communication and professionalism matter. Unfortunately, this experience made our decision to go elsewhere very easy.
