  I’m leaving this review to share my recent experience applying for this apartment complex. The property itself is beautiful, quiet, conveniently located, and well-maintained. During the tour, I was excited at the possibility of living here. I submitted my application immediately after, confident in my qualifications: I have no rental debt, strong rental history, and stable employment making over five times the rent amount. Initially, I was denied due to charge-offs on my credit report. These were debts that did not belong to me but were incurred by my ex-spouse. I provided the leasing office with a copy of my divorce decree, which legally states that he is responsible for those accounts. I also sent documentation showing the debts had been paid. Unfortunately, due to Texas being a community property state, the accounts remain on my credit report despite not being mine. I followed up four times over the course of three weeks after being told my documentation would be forwarded to the property manager for reconsideration. Despite my persistence and the fact that I paid an application fee, I received no further response. No decision. No communication. Just silence. This experience felt dismissive and unprofessional. I understand the importance of tenant screening, but what’s disappointing is the lack of human consideration in the process. Many people are still recovering from economic hardships caused by the pandemic and inflation. When someone takes the time to explain and provide documentation, the least that can be done is to offer a response, whether it’s a yes or no. I want to encourage others to share their honest experiences with rental applications. Complexes should begin looking at the whole person, not just a number on paper. I had the job, the income, the rental history, and still wasn’t given a fair shot or a simple reply.
