Do not move here at the Grove Apartments at 8200 Sunbury Ln, Houston, Texas. My experience living here has been extremely frustrating, stressful, and disappointing. Since I moved in back in January, the central air in my unit has only worked for about less than one month total. I live in Texas, where the heat can be unbearable, and not having working air conditioning for this long is completely unacceptable. This is not a small inconvenience — it affects comfort, health, sleep, and overall quality of life inside the home.
I have submitted maintenance requests and followed up multiple times regarding the central air issue. Each time I ask for an update, I either get ignored, receive no clear response, or I am told that they are “waiting on a part.” However, there has been no real communication, no timeline, no sense of urgency, and no reasonable accommodation offered while I continue living in a unit without proper air conditioning. It honestly feels like tenant concerns are not being taken seriously.
What makes this even more concerning is that if a child were living under these same conditions, I truly believe this would raise serious concerns because no child should be expected to live in a hot apartment without working air conditioning for an extended period of time. These living conditions are uncomfortable and unacceptable, especially when rent is still expected to be paid on time.
Another issue is the move-in process. Before moving here, I was shown a unit virtually because I was relocating from out of state. I also signed my lease virtually before arriving in Texas. When I got here, the unit I received was not the same unit I was shown virtually. That was very concerning because I made my decision based on what I was shown before signing the lease. I should have been clearly informed if the actual unit would be different.
Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience. Between the lack of communication, the delayed maintenance, the ongoing air conditioning issue, and being placed in a unit different from what I was shown, I do not feel valued as a tenant. At this point, I am considering seeking legal counsel regarding this matter because living without working central air for this long is not acceptable.
I would strongly advise anyone thinking about moving here to reconsider. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this property to anyone.
