I’m giving this property 2 stars, not because of the tour itself or the leasing agents, but because of the behavior and professionalism of the individual I was told is the property manager.
When I arrived for my tour, I was initially assisted by Salvador, who was welcoming, knowledgeable, and informative. I was then told that my scheduled tour was actually with Ariel, who was out on the property at the time. Once she returned, she showed us every apartment we requested to see and was extremely helpful throughout the beginning of the application process. Up to that point, the experience had been very positive.
While completing my application, I could hear someone in a back office loudly and aggressively yelling about a lease-related issue. I stepped out of the computer room to make sure everything was okay and saw Salvador return to his desk. I asked another leasing agent who had been yelling and was informed that it was the property manager. At that point, she was still shouting across the office, this time discussing a resident’s eviction and even calling out the resident’s apartment number where anyone in the leasing office could hear.
Having worked in property management myself, I found this behavior extremely unprofessional. It was disappointing to witness an employee, especially someone in a leadership position, speak to staff in that manner and openly discuss a resident’s private information within listening distance of prospective tenants. That experience alone changed my mind about leasing here.
This review is in no way a reflection of Salvador or Ariel. Both were courteous, professional, and provided excellent customer service. I’ve always known Abbey to have a strong reputation, which made this experience even more disappointing. I hope management addresses this issue, as the actions of one individual can undermine the hard work and professionalism of the rest of the team.
I had the worst experience living there, with my apartment falling apart and noise issues, and then now 3 years later, they send me a email with a final balance to pay for and treating to send it to collections. After 3 years of no contact, and I even asked after I left if was there any open balance and nothing. I called, explained my situation and asked to talk with the manager, after being told that she was busy I told the person on the phone to ask her to call me when she can and said that it is ridiculous, then HE just hang up the phone! This place is unbelievable, very unprofessional.
