They told me my apartment was ready for me and when I got in the apartment there was a lot of problems/issues. There was a cockroach in my apartment, the water heater was leaking and they still have not fixed it, the window was broken, drawers and cabinets was broken and missing knobs, the patio door was hard to close/lock and the front door closed also the washer and dryer hook up was outside but the lock was broken so anyone could come steal them, there more issues. The lady did not show me the apartment before I signed everything and when I was in the office, 5 or 6 residents came to the office and was complaining, even one of the residents told us not to move in because theses apartments are bad.

DO NOT MOVE OR APPLY. I applied and was approved for 3/15/26 and paid my $250 deposit. My initial move-in was for 4/12/26 then the leasing agent changed the date to 4/17/26 then 4/20/26. I paid for storage & movers but arrived to move in and was suddenly informed I was denied and unable to move in. This apartment complex refuses to refund my deposit even though their policy is deposit isn't paid until approval. IN TEXAS AN APT COMPLEX CAN KEEP THE DEPOSIT IF THEY CHOOSE EVEN AFTER DENIAL.
This complex stole my deposit & refuses to answer any calls. From previous reviews this is and HAS been done to SEVERAL previous applicants regularly. BEWARE this apt complex is running a scam & stealing applicant deposits using this loophole in TEXAS rent laws. BUY in TEXAS DONT RENT esp not this complex...your tenant rights will be exploited.
UPDATE: The Owners response was fake I called to rectify and left several messages no one returned my call - my deposit was NEVER REFUNDED. The response was for show to appear as if fair business was conducted. I am sharing all over social media so other people's money isn't stolen. REPEAT DO NOT MOVE HERE....

I had a very poor experience with The Griffin Apartments and would strongly caution others before renting here.
I was ultimately released from my lease due to ongoing maintenance issues that were never properly addressed. These issues were serious enough that code enforcement had to come out multiple times and document violations. Despite this, repairs were not handled during my tenancy.
After I vacated the unit and returned my keys on 03/06/2026, things only got worse. I later received a Notice to Vacate dated a month after I had already moved out, incorrectly implying I was in default. Since then, I have received repeated automated emails and texts demanding payment of an unspecified “balance,” but no one has ever provided an itemized statement or explanation of what is being charged.
I have sent multiple emails disputing these charges and requesting documentation, and they have been completely ignored. The only response I received was from a general inbox saying they do not handle account issues. Meanwhile, their system continues to send conflicting and inaccurate messages, including telling me to put utilities in my name after I had already vacated.
To make matters worse, I have not received any communication regarding my security deposit or any itemized deductions.
This has been extremely frustrating and unprofessional. It feels like their internal systems are disorganized, and instead of resolving issues, they rely on automated collection attempts without addressing legitimate concerns.
I would recommend keeping detailed records if you choose to rent here, like I have.
