LONG POST, But please PLEASE read.
My fiance and I started an application process on June 2nd, 2018.
Our lease was finally presented to us for signing in June on the 29th. However, there were issues in it such as charges for a service animal, which in Texas is something that cannot be charged for, as well as an error in pro-rated rent for the month of July, which was supposed to be our move in date. When these were brought up, we were told that they would be fixed. We attempted to get in contact with the office the next week, and arrived in person on the 6th, only to find that nothing had been done to correct the lease. We asked to speak to the property manager, who we were told was on lunch, and would be back in 15 minutes. We offered to wait that 15, as to drive home and back would have taken an hour and a half. She finally arrived back at the office nearly an hour after the supposed return time. When we asked to speak to her at this point, we were told that she was going to be on a conference call, and would be available at 4pm. We left to run another errand, only to receive a phone call from one of the people working in the office, saying that she would now be leaving at 4. We asked if we could return to speak with her before then, were told we could, and arrived at 3:30 to the office. We sat in the office, while the leasing agent attempted to get the manager to speak with us. though she continued to stay in her office, and finally ducked out the backdoor of the office at 4pm with us waiting in the office, and a current resident who had a meeting scheduled for 4pm waiting in the lobby.
We returned on Monday the 9th, and said we wished to terminate the process of signing the lease, and that we wanted a full refund. We were met with overwhelming enthusiasm and were granted a promise of a full refund. Including the $200 deposit, $100 in application fees, as well as the $100 administrative fee that was clearly not utilized.
We also found out during this process that the leasing agents are all temp agents, and not on a proper payroll. The only two on payroll are the two managers, who were difficult to contact at best.
The refund offer was made in writing, and signed by the property manager, with a promise to look into overnight mailing the check to us.
Two weeks later, Attempts to follow up have either been ignored, or avoided by the property manager. Attempts to contact the regional office have been in vein, and the only regional office I was able to contact was the North West office. None of the phone numbers listed on Grand peaks' website, which is the parent company of Wind Dance apartments, were correct except the NW region, and even then, that phone number led to a personal desk phone, not the office as a whole.
Today I was finally able to talk to the manager in charge of accounting and finance at wind dance, only to find out that the refund has in fact been submitted for approval to the corporate office. This is the first time I have gotten any information about this, and this was all the information I received.
Once we receive our $400 back, we will never be dealing with this apartment complex, nor the parent management company again. This was the most blatant example of poor management, and lack of concern for a resident/customer that I have ever seen. The complex is beautiful, but the office is so terrible, that I resent the fact that Google reviews have a minimum of 1 star.
