Run away, do not walk! Get as far away from Stewart’s ferry as possible. The deception is unreal. And I will be very detailed with my experience from touring to moving out.
I found this place when I drove over to Tennessee to have a fresh start to my already complicated life. I didn’t know any areas and thought, I would just want something that is within close proximity to the airport. I googled and found Stewart’s ferry Apartments. Upon arriving, the landscaping was breathtaking and that’s what is first used to pull you in. There’s a trail and Ronnie sold this place very well. I had a tour and what they show you is a model apartment. Oh how nice the model apartment was. I was sure this was the apartment complex I wanted to live in.
A month later on a Saturday I drove 9hrs excited to move into my new apartment and start a new life. Oh but this was where all my nightmares started. They gave me my keys and I entered my apartment. Everything was dirty and it wreaked of cigarettes and marijuana. I complained about it and was told the carpets were replace and that was the smell of the glue used. But the carpet wasn’t actually changed as I can see the indentation from the furniture of the previous tenants. I walked around the apartment and it was filthy, the bath tubs were dirty, you can see all the imperfections on the walls from nail holes and maintenance not caring enough to cover it up and paint it properly, the kitchen cupboards were disgusting. I couldn’t possibly move into this apartment.
That Monday, they gave me a different apartment. Better and worse at the same time. I’m not sure why it is so hard for them to clean these apartments well enough for the next tenants. The tubs were stained from previous tenants, they wouldn’t even have the tubs resurfaced. There was what looked like mold on the windowsills and the balcony sliding door, cupboard were nasty and to top it off. The bath tubs were so hollow underneath that as soon as you step in to bathe, all you hear are creaks until you’re out. Hell if you have someone upstairs having a shower. You hear their tubs creaking as though they’re going to fall through the ceiling.
There are no ceiling lights in either of the bedrooms. You have to have a lamp. Also enter entering the apartment front door you have to walk all the way across the living room to turn the light on, you cannot do that from the doorway
2 weeks after moving into the apartment the ceiling in one of my bathroom gave way as apparently there was a leak from the apartment upstairs. It took them over a week to fix it. They didn’t even clean up their mess after they were done.
Cockroaches!!! I’ve never seen so many cockroaches in my life! Every day I would come home, I’m greeted by cockroaches. Yet I’m paying for pest control every month. I keep my apartment very clean and was confused as to why I was having cockroach problems. They sprayed my apartment twice and even after that, I still had the issue. I was told it’s coming from other apartments. That doesn’t matter, I shouldn’t have to be dealing with cockroaches having a party in my apartment because of nasty neighbors.
Water and sewer billing. Please note, you are not billed for just YOUR usage. You are billed for everyone on the building you are living. I stay away from home due to work and so I’m only at home maybe 1-2 weekends a month. I do not even use $30 worth of water a month. Oh but every time my bill comes, I have to be paying over $140 for water and sewer. I am the only single woman, no family on this building and I am paying the price for every other person’s usage on this building. Unfortunately it’s in the lease and that is my fault for not reading and taking into consideration the allocation of water and sewer billing. Regardless, it is very unfair. You also have to sign up with Xfinity to be a part of Stewart’s ferry batch internet. You’re not allowed to get another Internet. Your water and internet is paid directly to Stewart’s ferry.
Last but not least, do not ever be late on your rent. By day 12, they send it to a law firm.
