I’m rating this transparent as possible.
Me: moved from Colorado, post grad career woman , one dog, single
I rented this place sight unseen based on reviews (which were mostly good so I’m hoping they aren’t paying to delete the bad ones) ..
If you’re renting site unseen this is for you:
If I were to compare this place to anywhere it would be a 3 star hotel with an overly concerned management team ..
example: they notify you day rent due and everyday after so don’t forget or let life happen cause then they will make you feel like you’re living with your parents (your nagging parents) .. get everything in writing, verbal commitments does not work for their team. Yes the management team is nice TO Your Face … but remember ur in the south now and that’s how people save face so keep it professional.
The neighbors are great and mind their business. I haven’t had any personality issues w the neighbors..
The structure of building: 84 units .. 1 trash room on each level .. actually a big building for what it is … if you choose to live on the first floor walls are thin, you will hear every foot step and pin drop. The water heaters are old old .. it make a lot of noise when it come on, and the walls crack as if they are settling .. garage is tight and does not have turning mirrors .. I haven’t noticed cameras yet.
Apartment itself- very strange layouts with tight closets, carpet is old and lifting but they aren’t gona do anything about that, bathroom was mildew smelling so whole apt stink .. it’s nice every unit has a small balcony.
No pool
I haven’t used the grill
The dog park is small beside the building
There are low income housing projects like one block away so careful where you walk.
The place is livable - again 3star hotel livable
I’m not going to post photos cause I only took pictures of the nasty stuff I seen .. and honestly the place has a lot of OK things not just nasty.. so I will spare you.
I do recommend asking for a live video tour of the property over FaceTime ..

I called in an maintenance order to fix a couple items. Caleb arrived and he was very polite and professional. He fixed a problem that the prior maintenance man said it could not be fixed and that’s just the way it is. Well, not to Caleb, thankfully he adjusted the sink faucet handles and the disposal to not wobble. Wow, so glad they have Caleb working here to maintain the property.

Pros:
-David and Jose are really friendly and nice. I struggled a bit with the payment system and I appreciated that David would warn me each month when I was about to unknowingly miss the payment rather than letting me miss it and charging a late fee or something like that. I run into Jose somewhat often and he always says hi or good morning to me. He reminds me of a dad, he’s very sweet.
-the location is very close to Vanderbilt if you’re a student. The Stevenson science building on campus is being torn down and a chunk of the stem departments have moved to a building that’s literally like 5 minutes down the street from here. Some of my physics classes are in there and it’s really convenient to walk to them.
-the floor plans look small when you first see them or walk into the empty rooms, but if you’re strategic with furniture placement you can get a lot out of the space. In my little bedroom that’s halfway triangular I have a large L shaped desk, a dresser, book shelves, a recliner chair and my bed. Though, I only need a twin sized bed so that definitely plays a part. I included photos because that would have been nice for me to see when I was looking thru apartments to get an idea of the space size.
-the coffee machine is really handy and when you first move in they give you a free mug so you don’t have to worry about unpacking your dishes right away to use it. The machine is down somewhat often but they tend to be good about fixing it if you email them to let them know.
-the community is very small so the hallways are most often empty. It’s really nice if you’re introverted or prefer the quiet. When they have events, sometimes I hesitate to go to them because I worry there will be too many people, but then I go and there’s just one or two people there. It’s really nice.
-on the topic of events, sometimes they give out free food downstairs. It’s great because driving in Nashville is kind of stressful so I wouldn’t normally go to those restaurants myself. This way I still get to enjoy them.
-they play music in the lobby that’s very pretty and relaxing. It’s like if jazz was sleepy.
-David is pretty quick about answering emails. When I was looking at reviews of other places while looking for an apartment I saw people complain that their managers didn’t care about their problems, so I’m glad that isn’t an issue here.
Cons:
-when I first moved in my place was very like subtly dirty. You’re expected to clean up after yourself when you move out and if it’s not good enough for them they’ll charge you a cleaning fee to clean it themselves. The people before me must have just barely met that standard. I felt really gross here before I got everything cleaned up and made it my own. That may just be part of apartment life though.
-the walls are pretty thin and you can hear like everything your neighbors are doing or construction outside or anything like that. Sadly that’s like every apartment in the world though. One thing this apartment has that others I looked at didn’t is the carpet in the hallways makes them a lot less echoey than other ones. The echo is still pretty bad though sometimes, it depends if there are other people making a lot of noise in there.
-the hot water in the bath lasts for nothing at all. I once timed it and it went cold after not even 25 minutes. I would rather pay more each month for longer hot showers. The toilet also doesn’t try very hard to flush so I feel like I have to clean it a lot more often than I have at my other places. It seems like they cut costs on their water appliances overall.
-the front entrance beeps very very loudly when you tap your fob to open the door. It’s just horrible, it hurts my ears so bad. Luckily the other entrance from the parking garage doesn’t beep from the fob, but when I’m walking home from class it’s most convenient to use the front entrance with the beepy door.
Overall I like this place a lot more than I dislike it. I feel generally really comfortable in my apartment. I hope to stay here until I finish my PhD.
I lived in a studio apartment at Note 16 and it was the best apartment I’ve ever lived in. The building is super secure, so I always felt safe and you feel like you’re staying in a fancy hotel because the building is so nice. My apartment had a lot of room surprisingly for a studio and very high ceilings which was a plus. Also, the view from my balcony was stunning. The management team was so friendly, and the maintenance team was great and would usually fix any issue I had within the same day. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place in Nashville!

We’ve been living here for over 3 years, and we still love it as much as we did the first day.
John in the leasing office is fantastically friendly and goes out of his way to make time for everyone. David and Bewar in maintenance are always pleasant, positive, and available 24/7 if there’s anything you need. The whole team works to ensure that Note 16 is more than merely an apartment building - it truly is a community.
The entire community is friendly and caring, and I always enjoy running into my neighbors. This is a pet friendly building with super low pet rent and a dog park, so there are plenty of furry friends around happy to see you. Being a relatively small community, you’ll know almost everyone by face and quickly learn nearly every pup’s name. No one is a stranger here.
As for location, you’re in a great spot in this particular area of Edgehill. Note 16 is on Music Row, and the streets have sidewalks and bike lanes all around, making it biker and walker friendly. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to Vanderbilt, Belmont, and Hillsboro Village. In one direction, downtown is a 10-12 min drive, and in the other direction, Green Hills is 15-20 min. The local Kroger is about 2 min away, making quick trips to the grocery store painless. One-way streets also mean road noise is at a minimum, especially if your apartment faces inward towards the courtyard.
All in all, I am very happy we chose Note 16!
