Absolutely do NOT live at The Watch on Shem Creek. Living there was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I moved in, the apartment smelled terrible and had ongoing mold issues, ant infestations, broken AC problems, and constant maintenance issues that were never properly resolved. The apartment constantly smelled musty and like mold no matter what I did. Friends would immediately comment on the smell, and there were times people told me my clothes smelled like the apartment because the odor clung to everything. I tried deep cleaning, hiring professional cleaners weekly, dehumidifiers, air fresheners nothing fixed it because the issue was clearly coming from the apartment itself. Management repeatedly claimed there was “no mold,” yet they would cut open drywall, repaint over areas, and within months the mold would grow right back through. During this process, large portions of my apartment were covered in plastic sheeting for over a month while I was still expected to pay full rent and live there with no accommodation or relocation assistance. I was constantly sick while living there, and after moving out those health issues completely disappeared. I also had to throw away a huge amount of furniture and belongings because mold spores had spread onto them. The ant infestation was horrible. I had ants crawling on me in my bed, and the issue became so bad it ruined my $6,000 couch. Management kept blaming “pest control” issues when the real problem was improperly sealed doors, windows, and bathrooms which I eventually had to reseal myself. I also went through two summers with barely functioning AC. When I complained, the property manager talked down to me and claimed I “didn’t know how to use an AC unit.” After contacting corporate, it was confirmed the AC system was actually blown and multiple residents were dealing with the same issue. Instead of apologizing, the property manager yelled at me for contacting corporate. One of the most disturbing incidents involved management bringing in an ozone machine to supposedly remove the smell. They initially told me my dog could remain inside while it was running. When I questioned how that could possibly be safe, they suggested I could sit in another room with my dog while it operated. Within minutes, it felt like the oxygen was being sucked out of my lungs. I later learned ozone machines can be dangerous to both humans and pets and are not supposed to be used in occupied spaces. After that incident, management agreed to let me out of my lease. I had written confirmation that my lease would be terminated and my security deposit refunded, but after I moved out, I was contacted by a lawyer asking me to sign paperwork and an NDA agreeing not to sue them. I declined. To this day, I still cannot get maintenance records from them despite repeatedly requesting them. This place was unhealthy, poorly managed, and one of the most stressful living situations I’ve ever experienced. Please seriously reconsider before signing a lease here.

I called the office last week to inquire about how long the water would be shut off for and was greeted by the rudest person I’ve ever encountered while living here.
This place has gone down hill with the new management. I’m moving out when my lease ends.

*New update, new manager and shes absolutely clueless! A apartment 2 stories above flooded my bottom unit bathroom floor (and others) yet they arent opening up walls to dry meaning MOLD will 100% be a issue soon! This place is rundown and I'd advise everyone to look elsewhere much better options around.
Just walk away or dont even come to start, places are a dump...Id like to start off saying staff is nice and NOT the issue other than the new management is awful, and seems clueless of how to manage a property
These units are old, rundown, and PAPER thin. I knew I should of ran when I toured the first apartment as it was awful but opted to wait for one with better amenities like all hardwood floors, granite counters and first floor. Figured that one had to be more like the pictures advertised. Sadly they are all rundown, just lipstick on a pig id call it. Windows all shot 30+ years old your bills will be high due to this! These just arent worth the small $100 saving compared to other newer or updated apartments around. Units have the cheapest appliances, washer/dryer unit so small you can barely do a small load of laundry at a time, dishwasher so cheap I dont even think it cleans properly, and under every sink the bottom cabinet has been water logged and are rotten out/falling thru and simply painted over. All cabinets and drawers are disgusting inside and falling off track. Again every window/door has terrible drafts, mold, windows dont even latch/lock.
The people here are are a mixed bunch but most young perhaps students who are quiet loud and care less. I step in dog shit one a week (usually at night) due to people not cleaning up after there pets. Its really bad around my building. I have lived in many places here in Mount Pleasant and this is by far the worse complex I've ever rented. Dont let the paint fool you as I didnt look hard enough upon inspection and also didnt get to see my actual unit until the day of move in and after I signed a lease as I had to to hold the apt.
*Again not the staffs fault this screams owner/management not putting money back into this place as they should. Even our common entry ways are DISCUSSTING as if never pressure washed and in dire need of it. These units really arent far from being demolished or at the very least evacuated and completly renovated!! Theres only so much paint and chaulk you can use to hide things and I can tell you everything here is original from rusty light fixtures, to painted over countertops.
**The other good reviews have to be paid for, just go tour a apartment for yourself in person, open the drawers, cabinets, and windows and you tell me these are worth 2k a month!

My experience applying here was absolutely terrible. There was a complete lack of professionalism. I was lied to, charged money just to apply, and never received any response. On top of that, the new manager is extremely disrespectful, arrogant, and rude toward people. I do not recommend this place at all.
