They never answer the phone, try to talk to staff in the office they act as they don’t know nothing and tell you to contact a number that never get answered. Unjustified charges and fees are applied all the time. The staff has keys of the unit. Somebody with access stole my son’s bike they did absolutely nothing. They just don’t care ! DO NOT RENT HERE. It’s a Scam.

Despite calling the office repeatedly during normal business hours, our calls were often left unanswered. It seems that the only time they are quick to respond is when they believe someone is interested in signing or renewing a lease.
Once you become a resident, getting help or even getting a response can be a completely different experience. This gives the impression that collecting rent and securing new leases are prioritized over taking care of existing residents and addressing their concerns.
It feels like once they have your lease and your money, customer service becomes someone else’s problem.
For a property where residents are paying a significant amount of rent, this level of customer service and responsiveness is simply unacceptable.

⭐ **1 Star — PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE SIGNING A LEASE**
I rarely write Google reviews, but my experience with **The Yards at Old State** has been so disappointing and frustrating that I feel obligated to share it—especially with students and parents who are considering signing a lease here.
**I deeply regret letting my son choose this place.**
The **Wi-Fi situation has been an absolute nightmare.** The internet has been unreliable and, at times, completely unusable. This is not a minor inconvenience for a college student—it can directly affect classes, assignments, exams, and everyday life.
What is even more frustrating is how management has handled the problem.
Rather than taking responsibility and working with residents to resolve the issue, the management office essentially **kicks the problem back to the students** and tells them to deal with the internet provider, **Single Digits**. After experiencing the service ourselves and seeing the overwhelmingly negative feedback about the provider online, it is extremely frustrating to be left on our own to deal with it.
**The problem remained unresolved for more than two weeks.**
And when you try to contact the management office for help, you may find another problem: **calls frequently go unanswered during normal business hours.** For a student paying thousands of dollars in rent, this level of communication and support is simply unacceptable.
I understand that technical problems happen. What matters is whether management steps up, communicates with residents, and works aggressively to fix the problem. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience.
**The most disappointing part is that residents are the ones paying the price while management and the internet provider point fingers at each other.**
If you are a student looking for housing, or a parent helping your child choose an apartment, **PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE SIGNING A LEASE HERE.** Ask specifically about the internet provider, recent outages, how internet problems are handled, and how responsive the management office is when something goes wrong.
I wish we had asked these questions before signing.
**Based on our experience, I strongly recommend considering other housing options before committing to a lease at The Yards at Old State.**

I lived here for three years across two different units and would not recommend it.
My biggest concern was the repeated moisture and water problems. We had black mold that was professionally identified, multiple ceiling leaks, and mushrooms growing underneath the bathroom flooring to the point that sections of the flooring were being pushed upward. During one storm, a bedroom ceiling developed a water-filled bubble and began dripping. I have photos and videos documenting these conditions.
The WiFi was extremely unreliable and once went out for approximately four days during finals week. Our AC also failed during a July heat wave. While it was being repaired, we were provided one portable AC for the living room but nothing for the bedrooms.
Other issues included an ice maker that remained broken for two years despite maintenance requests, a repeatedly loose faucet, hot water that began lasting only about 5–7 minutes, and maintenance entering our home without knocking when nobody in the house had requested service.
I also had a HelloFresh package mistakenly delivered to a neighbor and then brought to the leasing office. When I collected it, it had been opened and items were missing. After I raised the issue, an employee retrieved the missing items from another employee’s car.
The amenities were frequently disappointing despite the monthly fee. The printer was broken for an extended period, bathrooms were sometimes missing soap/toilet paper, the sauna and tanning rooms were frequently locked, and the coffee machine was often unavailable.
After moving out, I received a final statement showing a $0 balance. The following day, I received another statement adding a “late move out” fee, even though I returned my keys before the required 12 PM move-out time. I have disputed that charge.
Jaylen was consistently helpful and deserves credit for that.
These are experiences from three years of living here, not observations from a short stay. Prospective residents should look carefully at the photos and speak with current residents before signing a lease.

This is ridiculous. I’m paying rent already and they even haven’t given me any information about my house (where I live, what my address is or who my roommate is). I have been trying to contact them for weeks now. Today I called 7 times and no one picked up the phone. I have sent 10 emails and no one is answering. This is a joke. I talked to a representative in the sales team and he didn’t know how to help me, therefore he redirected me to the onsite team, which didn’t pick up the phone. This is beyond unacceptable.
