  If I could put zero stars for move-in I would, it was awful. As I got there my townhome was still under construction on both the inside and outside so I was delayed moving my things in. Along with the flooring on the inside not being finished, I have two different types of carpet one that is nice and one the is filthy with a lot of stains. This filthy carpet is on my stairs and in my hallway between the two bedrooms. In addition the carpet is coming off of my stairs making it a big tripping hazard. Also, the two bathrooms that I have access to do not flush so I can’t use those toilets, and the toilet by the kitchen was just left in the middle of the kitchen with toilet water in it. Speaking about the kitchen, my dishwasher door is broken and leaks when in use, my microwave door is cracked, and counter tops have stains that can’t be removed using regular cleaners. To finish my bedroom and the down stairs has water stains on the ceilings and the bathroom in my bedroom has floor boarders coming apart. At the end of it all, my toilets and carpet won’t be fixed until at the earliest, a week from now. But, the floor plan is great so I’ll give this place at least a 1 star.

  The Northbrook apartments are horrible. I could not move into my apartment on the scheduled move in date because there was an illegal male subletter in my apartment (which was supposed to be female only), and the management did not notice for an entire month. Northbrook did not let me know my housemate would be renewing their lease, leaving a loop hole for management so they did not have to clean the apartment space before a new tenant moved in. I moved into a very dirty and disorganized shared common area, and into an upstairs where the carpet smelled like old animal feces and pee. My parents and I spent all of Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd cleaning the apartment because it was not suitable for move-in. We had asked the management if they would hire someone to clean, and they said they would but they never did call someone. Because of the illegal subletter, the half bath was never fixed even though it was broken, so dirty toilet water sat in the bowl for who knows how long. Even though I signed a lease for a furnished unit, my bedroom has been left without a mattress for days, even after going to the leasing office to request a mattress every day. After paying the first installment of rent, I expected my place to be completely ready to be moved into. They also do not check the safety of their properties because I had to verbally ask for a front door lock change or else my apartment was still accessible to a stranger. They also have taken no action with an illegally parked vehicle (no license plates) that has been sitting in a designated parking space for days, even though in their lease they are very strict with any violations. They do not care if tenants violate their lease agreement because no action has been taken with the illegal subletter or the illegally parked car. Do not waste your money or time with State College Collective.

  My move-in experience was extremely disappointing. The apartment was handed over dirty, poorly maintained, and clearly not inspected properly. The entrance lock was jammed, the door frame was cracked, carpets and sofas were stained, the kitchen contained food waste and burned residue, and several windows, doors, blinds, appliances, and fixtures were damaged or unusable. Even the washing machine was missing its control knob. These were all pre-existing issues that should have been resolved before move-in. Prospective residents should inspect every detail, photograph everything, and think carefully before signing a lease here. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this property.

  Horrible move-in experience. Apartment was trashed. Urine and pubic hair in bathrooms. They charged everyone $1000 deposit for the month of August towards rent, despite only being allowed to move in as soon as August 20th. They stated that within those 20 days they’d have the apartments cleaned, fully furnished, and ready for its next tenants but they FAILED to do so. BADDDD. Employees in the leasing office were extremely rude and unhelpful!!! Made smart and snarky comments to stressed tenants about their move-in experience. I did not receive any of my furniture until about 72 hours after moving in. -0/10 would not recommend!!!

  Today is the first day of my lease and my apartment has no floors.... Yeah............ Today was my move in date and it was a one of a kind experience. We arrived at 1 PM to pick up our keys only to arrive at my apartment with its door open and a construction worker inside still working on the flooring. Yes, I was given the keys to move into an apartment that was still under renovation without any prior notice whatsoever A peak inside the apartment revealed that there was no flooring whatsover, all the previous flooring was ripped open and tossed out. The apartment was unsable, and could not be moved into. We went to complain and the lady stated that management was attempting to replace the carpet flooring with hardwood and that they had no idea that the construction would bleed into our move-in time slot. She stated that they would finish work in no less than an hour and that she would, in fact, contact us (taking a picture of my apartment number) if there was any unforeseen issue. With no contact from the leasing office, we arrived back at the property at 4:00 PM. We still found the same construction worker who said they will be done at 11:00 AM the next day. We lost an entire day of the lease due to the fact that my apartment was under renovation. Upon examination, it looked like they didn't even start at all. The unit is entirely floorless just the subfloor (like soft coark or whatever). Much less unlivable, the apartment is "un-move-in-able". We went to management to complain again and this time there were so many people there complaining about mold that you'd think there was a class-action. By the way, we couldn't even throughly inspect my apartment if it had mold, BECAUSE THERE WAS NO FLOORING, it was under construction by the time we were there. The management lady was scrambling trying to get every tenant hotels but the wait was boderline unacceptable. For a period a time there was only one agent working there and she took over an hour attempting to find the right hotel for this tenant whose apartment was unlivable due to mold. This caused the line to build-up and tenants (including me) were urging additional agents to come help. There was also this other dude there who started helping people in the back of the line like a meet in the middle way of addressing tenants. What kind of system is that? It was so jarring to see this many people complain to the point where the line lead out of the leasing office. Most of the complains were about mold, and the overall cleanliness (lack thereof) of their unit upon move in (to the point where the unit is unlivable), which is awful and embarrassing for this leasing company. But it speaks to the management system they have that it takes me 3+ hour to even speak to a person about my issue that my apartment is quite literally unfinished. Like my apartment is actively under construction during move in without my knowledge and I have to wait for 3 hours to even talk to somebody. I DON'T HAVE FLOORS, like is that not crazy??? I have never heard of this happening before. As of right now my apartment is floorless.
