Allow me to add to the chorus of reviews here expressing frustration with the elevators. Coming up on my first full year as a tenant, the passenger elevators have not worked with any sort of regularity. We are at a point where the only remaining service elevator is no longer reliable, likely because it has seen so much increased use by passengers, and is once again out of service. Walnut Capital has finally begun to credit our rent starting this month. This is a welcome, if late, admission, along with many apologetic newsblasts that I have received since September. We can all understand the logistical hurdles that must be involved in replacing elevators. It is less understandable how known faulty elevators, which I had the pleasure of experiencing on my tour in March last year, and which per my guide then are part of the second oldest elevator system in the city, have been allowed to fall into disrepair with no clear timeline on when we should expect relief. To anyone considering renting here, I will amend this review once I feel that the elevator situation has been adequately resolved; the facilities and amenities, which I have more positive to say about, deserve better attention in a full review. Until then, save yourself the difficulty of moving furniture up stairs and the embarrassment of a Walnut Capital representative having to explain that they are unable to offer working elevators in downtown Pittsburgh.

I moved here in May of 2024, and that ended up being a great decision. I like my apartment, and I am able to have visitors regularly. There is also a Starbucks location within the building, and that has proven to be a great place to meet with friends, study, and work. As a Duquesne student, this apartment proved to be the most convenient to me at the best price available in its area. Though I have obviously been given this forum, I cannot think of much to complain about. Even when issues do arise with the apartment, they are quickly resolved. Sometimes my dryer does not dry clothes all the way, but that is to be expected with miniature dryers, and is not Chatham’s fault. If you are hoping to live in Downtown Pittsburgh, I recommend looking into this building. Hopefully this review is helpful to you in your search for a place to live.

The elevators in this building are easily some of the worst in Pittsburgh. Of the six, only 2-3 work at any given time, and that's including the service elevator. The front left elevator has been permanently disabled. The back left elevator stops at floor number 7 for no reason whenever you are on your way to one of the floors above. The service elevator, which you aren't supposed to use but have to out of necessity, will randomly take you to the basement for no reason half the time you try to use it. At this point, I have wasted hours of my life waiting on these elevators (which were installed sometime between 1963-1973) or being dumped out onto various floors I didn't request. Why are these elevators, which are 50-60 years old at this point and are in appalling condition, still in use?

I would like to give Joshua a full score and positive review for his responsibility and patience in helping me set up my electricity account and helping me to print plenty of materials. Very kind and friendly team. As a newcomer to Pittsburgh and a foreigner, communication hasn't been very smooth for me, but the office staff has been incredibly helpful. I am highly satisfied with The Washington At Chatham management team; they are very friendly and professional. You can always approach them on the first floor to discuss any issues, from 8AM- 5 PM.

First of all I was the one of the first tenant who has leased here for an year. When I came here I didn't get the amenities which they promised they will have but they were charging for that and I was also paying understanding the facts that the covid situation is there. I asked for a extra lock which is not installed even after 9months. I hear a lot of noise top of my head due to their some work going on from where I get headache too.. its really really heavy they also knows abt that and still they didn't fixed the issue.. I understood all their lacking as its a new apartment and covid situation they are unable to do. But when it's came to lease renewal time I asked for 12days extra to made my dicision as my employer will let me abt my contract on that time. But surprisingly Maria is saying it's not possible if I made late dicision then my lease will go in to month to month lease for those 10days. Hahaha. Dude we were paying for the amenitiesh you guys promised was not there and considered the situation..and now you can't even consider 10days to made my dicision?? I understand it's same for everyone then you guys should understand too that we have considered a lot when we didn't have to do..only giving 2 stars becoz of Ken n Heather's sweet gesture and behavior. Thanks👎
