  It really hurts to write this review as I really adored living in this place until a month ago. First of all, Jen and Kate are amazing, I talk/complain to them regarding issues in my unit and they are so sweet and exceptionally supportive and helpful regarding any issue. I have been living in this property for a year now. My first priority of choosing somewhere to live was where there is no bug what so ever. As the recent review is shown, the trash chute has been closed for 6+ weeks and the building started to have different types of fly issues. Fruit flies, gnat flies... and now I have been seeing phorid flies. The management team (Kate and Jen) has been doing so much on their end to resolve this as all this happening was never their fault- trash chute closure was happened by stupid resident who doesn't know how to throw out trash properly. But now the building is covered with all different types of flies regardless of the cause, the exterminator has come twice so far, even came to my unit to spray and after a week of research, I found out that it is phorid flies from how they behave (walk/jump), and how they look like. I am 100% confident that these things are phorid flies as I posted several images of them on social media asking what this is and they all conclude that it's not fruit flies, but phorid flies. Anyways, the exterminator even saw the bug (I showed him) and I described how they behave and such but he was just keep saying that it is a fruit fly and they just come in when I open my front door. First of all, after this issue, I have been bleaching everything and cleaning twice every day, spraying tea tree oil every hour, not open my window, not eating in the apartment, throwing out any trash everyday, and I still killed on average 20-30+ flies. Total, I think I have killed 200+ flies. I feel like the maintenance and exterminator that they use are not very professional people who should be maintaining this place. Fruit flies are really easy to get rid of, but phorid flies are so hard to get rid of and I am afraid that this will be a long battle for very long time as they can also live throughout the winter in warm areas. I believe this issue can be adjusted if it is taken very seriously and use more professional exterminator who can diagnose better... I have really bad bug phobia and this bug issue has been going for 2+ weeks now and I have been extremely stressed. If you are not friends with bugs like me please avoid for now.

  Lived in the Commonwealth Building for 2 years, property was first owned by Greystar then switched to Walnut Capital, who currently owns the property. I would recommend looking at other properties in downtown Pittsburgh. Pros: - Nice views if you're on a higher floor, large windows - In unit washer and drier work great - The gym is appropriately sized and not too busy - Convenient location if you work downtown or go to Point Park Cons: - The building currently has a flea problem - Cleanliness, garbage compactor has been down for 6+ weeks, residents have to take their trash out via passenger elevators to the dumpster, it's often a stinky ride. Maintenance staff isn't staffed or well-trained enough to service the building. If you have a maintenance emergency you get routed to a 3rd party service line that doesn't even know where you live. - Property recently added a tacky wedding chapel. Residents were not informed or given any formal heads up. The lobby is now separated from a vegas-inspired wedding chapel with a glass door covered with a blue sheet. Residents now share a portion of the Mezzanine amenity area with the chapel. - Building not maximized for safety. Building elevators are equipped with fob scan hardware, but it's not activated. Building is not in the safest location to begin with. On 4th Ave you will regularly see people drugged out, urinating on sidewalks, syringes laying around. You will be asked for money every time you leave the apartment. It's a very sad / desperate situation. Wood Street Commons homeless shelter shares the same block. Commonwealth Building has no 24/7 security concierge like other apartments do downtown.

  I'm a disabled veteran I moved in May and since I have lived here I will say it's the best place I ever had the staff is so wonderful and caring they handled problems with the most efficient means necessary the social gatherings are always fun and very peaceful everyone enjoys the events I like the they try to have something every month I really appreciate the office staff and housekeepers plus the maintenance is always getting things done in a timely manner I will recommen to any of my friends and fellow veteran to try to inquire i have a family member seriously thinking of relocating here the environment is the best and people who live are very nice and respectful it's not a dirty place it's always clean and neat ❤️ I wish I could have found this place years ago I'm so happy hear and plan on living here for a long time to come l thank the commweath building for having me for resident

  My base rent was $1880. After they added the water and heating with the coolant unit , I ended up paying average $2200. I decided not to renew my lease. I left over 6 months ago and they refused to give me my security deposit even though I left the apartment in great condition.

  Hands down the best apartments in downtown Pittsburgh. The units themselves are great, and the management has been exceptional. We toured a majority of the apartments in Pittsburgh, and it always ranked at the top. For future renters - the utilities are a minimal expense each month, and it is clean, safe, and truly pet friendly. We’ve loved our time here!
