  I would not recommend Clayton Homes. Our experience was very frustrating. Communication went downhill the moment we signed the paperwork, and getting anything fixed after that was like pulling teeth. Communication was garbage, and several things we specifically requested either weren't done correctly or were ignored. We had grading issues around the home, carpet installed even though we requested otherwise, exposed wires, and several other problems that never should have been present in a brand-new home. We ended up fixing many of the issues ourselves because it was easier than waiting for anything to be done. We do love our home overall, but buying a brand-new home should be exciting, not stressful. We expected much better quality control and customer service. We eventually asked for no further contact because, at that point, it was clear nothing was going to change. I hope they improve their communication, attention to detail, and follow-through for future customers. EDIT: Responding to your response. Thank you for responding, but that doesn't accurately reflect our experience. We were specifically told grading and seeding were included. The lot was flat before demolition and was left uneven for months. Even after someone came out, it still wasn't done properly. Colton told us they would return to fix it, but that never happened. At that point, we gave up and fixed it ourselves. The exposed wires should not have been sticking out of the ground as much as they were. If they couldn't be removed, that should have been communicated to us when we initially mentioned it. We also had to bury a line your team installed because it was left above ground. We reached out to Colton multiple times and often had to follow up repeatedly just to get a response. Throughout the process, it felt like responsibility was passed from one person to another instead of anyone taking ownership of the issues.

  My daughter and I met with Bill Gallagher to discuss options for pre-fab/ modular homes. Bill took the time to explain different options and answered all of our questions. He was very patient and understanding, given we had no idea how any of the process works. We didn't feel rushed or pressured at any point during the conversation. If we decide to go with this type of product, we feel confident working with Bill and Clayton homes.

  After our resent attempt with Clayton homes. I have no option other than to warn everyone to stay far far away from this company. We visited a few weeks ago. Found a home they had on there lot that was for sale and included all furnishings. Only home that fit our budget and was something we could see being a long term home. So after finding land that would be needed. I called to see if still available. My sales Rep Colton checks with others in the office without placing me on hold. I could hear others say it was still available no deposits have been made. He again put me on hold few minutes later to check again and came back saying yes it’s available. So I jumped at the chance and sent my $2500 deposit instantly to put a hold on the home and start the paperwork with Clayton and there 4 lenders. (4 credit checks). 4 days after my deposit was placed to hold the home. Then after getting the credit clearance for there land home mortgage. I receive a email in short saying oops you can select something else. We accidentally collected a deposit from someone else the same day you did but earlier in the day. I replied in short that was not what I agreed to and why am I being bait and switched. Made it clear where I stood and how unhappy I am that I did there steps. Then after running my credit they are now telling me oops. They then responded and said they missed spoke again and the deposit was taken from someone else now a week prior to mine. Then that it didn’t look promising they would get financing and if that fell through I was back on. I made clear how shitty they have done this and asked that I have management contact me asap. They needed to fix there bait and switch. 4 more days go bye and nothing. So I email to see about getting my deposit back. They now say it will take 14 days and will mail me a check. So I will be contacting everybody I can from the state attorney, the bbb and any other housing authority that may over see how home sales are done. If your an attorney and believe there is legal concerns. You are welcome to contact me. Maybe this will grab the attention of the Clayton homes management! Buy your home somewhere else. There are plenty on the same stretch of road to choose from.
