The Vista St. Clair is genuinely one of the most enjoyable places I've ever lived. The amenities — the patio, the gym, the tennis court, and the lobby where residents gather for morning coffee — are well-suited to building real community, and that's exactly what happens here.
The mix of residents is part of what makes this place special: professionals, people just starting out, and those navigating harder chapters of life. There's a genuine culture of looking out for one another, and most people here bring real compassion and curiosity to their neighbors' stories. Occasionally someone moves in who's going through something and hasn't quite found their footing yet — but even that has its charms, as the reviews section will attest.
The office staff are grounded and approachable, and the retirees here are some of the most interesting people you'll meet — folks who have lived full, admirable lives and are generous with their time and stories.
If you move in, grab some popcorn and watch the community unfold — or better yet, jump in.

Update: Vista sent me a cease a desist letter, demanding that I take down my 100% honest and factual reviews, threatening legal action if I don’t. I stand by my reviews and every claim in them. They claim that I MUST stop ALL online posts about them, essentially threatening legal action if I post anything about my experience living there. Again, these are the people you’ll be choosing to deal with if you rent from Commerce Properties. Instead of changing their ways, they turn to sleazy attorneys (you can find A LOT about Andor Law online) who threaten tenants and former tenants. Also, nowhere in their cease and desist letter did they state that my claims were false, indirectly supporting every single claim I’ve made. They just don’t want people to know how they actually do business. I have posted the image of the cease and desist letter, with sensitive information redacted.
Fingers crossed that I still have a chance at winning their promotional prize for online reviews.

Vista treated me horribly during my final 2 1/2 years there. It’s my belief that they did so because I caught them engaging in unlawful billing of utilities. They ended up paying me nearly $10,000 for the illegally charged utilities, and from that day on, their sole focus was getting me out…all because I expected them to follow the law.
They recently evicted a tenant whose husband died last year. She was struggling to pay rent, but wanted to work with them. She’d been there since 1993. From what I understand, they made nearly no efforts to work with a widow who had lived there for almost 35 years. They made her go to court. Imagine the distress.
The owner, Malcolm McCiver, appears to think he is above the tenants…all because he owns a business handed down to him by his dad. During one of their walk throughs of my apartment, Malcolm was present. I attempted to speak with him. He coldly ignored me, as though I didn’t exist. Is this a person you want to give your money to…happy to take your money, refusing to acknowledge that you’re a human being. I have video.
Jacob Wannamaker, the onsite manager, threatened to call the police on me because he didn’t want to answer my questions about illegal utility billing…I have video. As a reminder, 4 hours after he threatened to call the police, he deposited nearly $10,000 into my account…because they were breaking the law.
Please read the most recent reviews, and look how they have gone down since 2022, when Jacob Wannamaker became the manager. Most positive reviews are vague…and they do a promotion for online reviews. Do you think the negative ones will win? The negative reviews are detailed, and I can tell you from experience, are accurate. Please look elsewhere. Help me send them a loud and clear message: tenants expect better than bullying, law breaking, and the cold shoulder. Tenants deserve respect…something Vista knows nothing about.
