I’ve been living at the Lafayette Apartments for two years now and have loved every moment of it! I’ve even encouraged my friends to move in because it’s such a great place. The rent is relatively low for its location downtown so close the Pearl District and Providence Park. The building is also right next to a public transportation station making the building accessible for folks without personal vehicles, but if you do have a car we also have a parking lot across the street! Besides this, The community is a great balance of warm yet respectful. The building is 100 years old which gives it a historical charm. Because the building is old more maintenance is required, but Larry, the maintenance guy, is super proactive. One time I put in a maintenance request and Larry was at my apartment the same day. Larry is also just a super nice guy. Julie, the building manager, is also the coolest and most understanding manager I’ve ever had or heard of. She is the one who really cultivates the tight knit community. I definitely recommend living here because it’s been a truly amazing living experience for me personally.

My daughter lived here for 4 years. Like others have mentioned, Julie was a great manager. Unfortunately, she is no longer there and it shows. We needed to move my daughter out this past fall due to it not being a safe environment anymore.

I lived at the Lafayette for close to three years and cannot recommend it enough. I was a student at the time, and it was affordable, and a perfect distance from Portland State campus, as well as my job downtown. You can really walk anywhere downtown! Transportation is very convenient, as there's the blue/red line max up the street, and the Portland streetcar a few blocks away. It's also walking distance to the Downtown City Target, and the Fred Meyer on Burnside. My boyfriend and I were able to live in a one bedroom apartment without any problems. Aside from that, management is amazing, Julie is the best apartment manager I've had, she's so incredibly sweet and helpful, and the building could not be what it is without her amazing dedication. All in all, I highly recommend this place, especially if you are a student, or looking for your first apartment. It was absolutely perfect for me in that time.
