I have loved living at this apartment but the renovations have been so disruptive and some of the aesthetic choices are really frustrating. At first I loved the new hallway paint, but then the awful new light fixtures were placed and I feel like I’m walking down a sterile abandoned hospital. Parking has been disrupted, the outside of the building has looked crazy, the beautiful mural has been painted over. I barely recognize the building that originally charmed me so much to move in. Plus I have a neighbor crawling through windows and have not received any responses about measures being taken for safety. The building used to feel secure, homey, quiet and warm. Now I walk in and cover my eyes from the bright awful fluorescents and blank walls. It feels like Red Tail forgot people actually live here and call this place their home.

Our storage unit was broken into, car windows are being smashed and there are homeless people EVERYWHERE! Avoid this place at all costs...

We lived here for 2 and a half years and it was a good experience with the building management. We have cleaned our places well in the past and not got our deposit back from shady places, this place gave us our full deposit back. I consider them to have full integrity and respect for tenants.

My husband and I lived at Forestry Court for 3 1/2 years and we were very happy there. The landlady, Catherine, is kind, warm, and welcoming, and also attentive to needs. (We love her!!) Bill, their maintenance man, is shockingly quick to respond to maintenance requests which we really appreciated. I never felt gouged by rent raises, which were always below the max 10% companies are allowed to ask for. With a locked main entrance and interior apartment doorways the building always felt very safe. There are a lot of dogs in the building and it’s a great spot if you love or have dogs! Washington Park is 2 blocks away with miles of hiking trails and NW 23rd is a ten minute walk away. It’s the best of both worlds. We ultimately moved due to an irresponsible dog owner who moved into the unit above us who let her dogs bark for hours on end everyday, but Catherine was very responsive and we chose to move out in order to avoid risking getting the woman evicted. (I don’t know how it would’ve ended, but I felt moving was simply a better answer.) This was not a common issue, only an unfortunate end to previously contented living prior to that tenant’s arrival. Many tenants have lived in the building for a very long time! All in all, these adorable vintage apartments have surprisingly large kitchens with tons of cabinets, and each unit has a large closet. The hardwood floors are gorgeous and the windows large! I’ve seen many of the studio units and they’re spacious!!

Rent is reasonable for this part of town. LOVE the location. (Very very walkable!) And my studio has a large bathroom, walk-in closet, and separate kitchen space which is big enough for my table to comfortably fit. Also, it's suuuuper dog-friendly, which is great for me and my pup. ( No monthly pet rent AND a refundable deposit?! It's true.) I only wish the walls weren't so thin. I don't hear my neighbors on either side as much as I hear the doors opening/closing in the hall (sometimes at 2 am or 4 am on weeknights/mornings). Sometimes the neighbors above also make some noise. So if you're moving here, just be aware that you'll need some noise cancelling sound or a strategy. Otherwise, the onsite manager is very friendly and attentive, and everything has worked so far! (I've been here less than three months.)
