If you’re thinking about renting through Midtown Stillwater, DON’T.
My lease isn’t even over yet, and I’ve had issue after issue. Not only is your rent going to be out the ass (unless you just so happen to know someone, but you didn’t hear that from me), but me and my roommates pay over 3,000 a month combined. We could get a penthouse in New York City for that price. I’m not even lying to you.
They might also violate your lease agreement and Oklahoma renting laws! We have experienced employment coming into our apartment without any notice. They completely disregarded us when we brought up the fact that what they did is illegal in the state of Oklahoma, as you are required to give 24-hour notice to tenants unless it is an emergency. Tell me, do you think swapping out a couple of barstools for shorter ones is an emergency? Because I sure as hell don’t.
And when I went to the office to talk to the manager and complain, they treated me like I was an idiot and didn’t know what I was talking about. They even stated that they weren’t expecting anyone to be home since it was Christmas break. So tell me, how many other times do you think they’ve gotten away with breaking leases and laws?
The cherry on top for us, besides the fact that it took them a year and a half to have consistently working Wi-Fi, was when we had an emergency maintenance situation. I got home from dinner to my bathroom toilet overflowing and spewing water out. I’m talking the whole floor and bedroom carpet soaked. Every towel in our apartment had to be used to soak up the massive amount of water. Before you say “well you probably clogged it, what do you expect.” I hadn’t used my toilet from Thursday the 7th to the morning of Wednesday the 13th, because I was out of state.
Not only did we file two emergency maintenance requests, we also tried calling the “emergency number,” which led to absolutely nothing but an AI chatbot who couldn’t help any situation. It’s not like we filed this emergency request at 2 a.m. or anything crazy; it was 9 p.m. on a Friday. As I am writing this, it is about 3:15 p.m. on a Saturday, and we still have not heard one word or received one knock on the door.
I have things that are now ruined because of how bad it overflowed. If it weren’t for us having fathers who know basic plumbing, it could have been way worse. What would’ve happened if we didn’t know to shut the water off? This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.
Then today, when we called the front desk and expressed our concern that no one has checked in and it has been almost 20 hours since the issue, we were met with one of the worst customer service experiences you could imagine from London, who literally laughed at us. He was rude, refused to let us talk to a manager or give us the phone number or email of any of his supervisors, basically said “womp womp,” and told us they’d get to it on Monday.
So, in an imperfect world where me and my roommate didn’t know how to handle the situation, my apartment would just have to be flooded till Monday, or I would have to pay out of pocket for a plumbing issue that wasn’t even my fault.
The customer service is absolutely terrible. Whether it’s Agustus or London, just know to expect the worst customer service and for them to be rude.
Oh, and let’s not forget the fire alarm fiasco from the fall, where the fire alarms went off and continued to beep throughout the whole night into the morning multiple times throughout the week, but also on more than one occasion.
And yes, I have proof of all of this.
