I stayed in Statehouse Lane this year as OSU leased it out for sophomores, and my experience was not great for “luxury living”. At the beginning of the year, our AC went out multiple times during the hot months and our thermostat would read at 80°+ for multiple days in a row. Maintenance did their best, but it was ridiculous in the first place. We also had MULTIPLE issues with our laundry unit. The washer broke a few times and they had to completely replace our washer and dryer. The washer also would have problems draining and laundry would be a whole day process as our laundry would come out soaked. Early into spring semester, our kitchen sink started to leak excessively; it took maintenance TWO HOURS to come and fix it, and they simply shut it off for the night and fixed it the next day. They changed the wifi halfway through the year and it worked half of the time, which would often lead to my suite mates and I having to go to campus or other places simply to do work. There was so much water damage to the drawers when we moved in, and our freezer was missing a door and the ice machine was disgusting. I’m giving Statehouse two stars as I will say, the front desk staff and maintenance were extremely friendly, especially Nick (front desk) and CJ and his coworker (maintenance). I made it through the year because for a dorm, it was nice and a definite upgrade. However, I would NEVER pay the excessive rent to live here.

They clearly do not care about resident safety, we have had a string of break ins in the garage into peoples cars and now tonight mine was broken into. They keep saying they have people watching but whoever was standing there basically just seemed unbothered when I told him my car had been broken into and started telling me things I already knew. Not to mention the wifi issues as well, switching to a new service halfway through the year and now it goes out 3-4 times a day and they have been “fixing” it for for 5-6 months. The only thing they did was slide us 1 free pizza for 7 people to try to apologize for the wifi. At the beginning of the year they also took 3 months to fix our ac/heat and kept telling us they were trying to figure out “permits” when finally after 3 months, one guy came out and replaced one tiny part. This is getting absolutely out of hand and it seems like they have not been trying to help us out at all.

This company couldn't care any less for their current residents. They had no urgency is fixing our AC, washer/dryer, ice machine, garbage disposal, and did so in the cheapest/easiest way possible. Forget his name, I think its Gee, he does good work, and CJ is good too. I appreciate them, but they are not the ones responsible for the issues we have had. The maintenance staff had to pay WITH THEIR OWN MONEY to get us AC because the higher ups did not want to approve work to be done. Our room was around 81 degrees for the whole month of August/September, a little window unit does not work for a 4 bedroom unit. "Upgraded" our Wi-Fi halfway through the year, and now it turns off randomly multiple times throughout the day, all so they could get a cheaper option. I have lost points on graded assignments because the Wi-Fi cuts out in the middle of a quiz. Parking garage door is so inconsistent too. Know people that have been late to classes/appointments because the door will not open and let them out. If you are a student looking for a reliable place to live, the location and nice looking rooms are not worth it. Very deceiving. Too many problems and issues that are left unresolved.

The team of workers is amazing, especially Garith! Very nice and welcoming, and also so quick to respond to maintenance requests!
