A. There are several factors that determine the cost of your live scan. If your Requesting Agency has a billing number on your Request for Live Scan Form, you will pay our Rolling Fee of $22 but if you pay by cash, your Cash Discount, Rolling Fee is only $20 in Ventura and only $18 in Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks.. If your Agency does not have a billing number the cost will depend on what type of agency you are printing for and what Levels of Service they require. In general if only DOJ is checked under Level of Service you would add the DOJ (Department of Justice) fee of $32 to our Rolling Fee. If DOJ and FBI are required you would add the DOJ fee of $32 plus the FBI fee of $19 to our Rolling Fee. For Agencies who run their live scans through the Department of Social Services there would be an additional $10 Department of SS fee. These are general fee guidelines, the actual cost of your live scan may vary.

A. Yes, each live scan is only good for the Requesting Agency of that scan. It is a Misdemeanor for any Agency to give the results of your live scan to another Agency.

A. No. The results are only sent to the Requesting Agency. You will only be given a copy of the Request for Live Scan form that you bring in at the time of fingerprinting, this form does not have any criminal history results. If you need a copy of your criminal history please see “How do I get a copy of my criminal history”

A. It takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes per live scan.

A. You will need to bring your Request for Live Scan Service Form , a Valid photo ID and payment.

A. You would get the Form directly from the place of business that is requesting you to be live scanned. For licensing and certification the Forms can usually be found on the governing Agencies website. For example you would find the Request form for a Security Guard from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services website, for Notaries you would go to the Secretary of State website, etc.

A. You can call the Department of Justice 24 hour automated number at (916)227-4557. You will need to have your copy of the Request for Live Scan Form that you were given after fingerprinting. The automated will ask for your ATI number that was written by the live scan operator on your form. It will also ask you for your date of birth. Write down the dates that your live scan was sent on, be sure to listen to the entire message if your scan included FBI. The California response is your DOJ (Department of Justice) response. After you have the dates you can contact the Requesting Agency for follow up. If the message says that you are still in process call the DOJ number at a later date. This recording will only give you the dates your results were sent on, it will not give you any results. The Department of Justice runs both the California (DOJ) and the FBI searches.

A. You MUST have a letter of rejection from the Department of Justice with you when you come back for a reprint. We cannot reprint you without this letter. You will also need a new Request for Live Scan Service form as well as your valid photo ID. If you had your original fingerprinting done with Livescan Express there is no charge for a reprint. If your original prints were done at another live scan location you will only pay the rolling fee.
