It wasn't a terrible place to live, but wasn't what I would consider "luxury". Pros: -very nice kitchen with lots of counter space and storage -Maintenance staff is prompt and does a good job -Amazing location; close to tons of stores and restaurants -Felt very safe; locked entries and interior hotel style hallways Cons: -No storage/linen shelves in bathroom for one bedroom layouts -No walk in closet in the one bedroom -Terrible lighting throughout. Lights were so incredibly dim. Only decent light is over island. Trying to cook in kitchen without a bright overhead light was terrible. Had to install under cabinet ones so I could see. Other apartments in the area at same price point have recess lighting. -Hot water in shower never truly hot. More like "warmish" -W/D was very outdated. No timer to see how long cycle had left. No time dry. Incredibly loud/obnoxious end of cycle signal. Machine itself is extremely loud and can be heard throughout entire apartment even with laundry closet doors shut. Not the case at union, laundry closet is in kitchen and you can be standing at stove and not even be able to tell you are running it -Workout room is awful: tiny, no fans, no mirror, not enough space to do any floor exercises. Was always incredibly hot and no access to thermostat. -Lack of community events. I was told that they do something every month...then they only had 2-3 the entire 12 months I was there. Those few events that they did have were always on a Friday afternoon so I could never attend due to my work schedule. Disappointing that they couldn't do events on different days and times so that people who are busy on Fridays could enjoy them as well. The Union right down the street had multiple events each month- happy hours, grab and go breakfast, resident meet and greets, bonfires etc. -Poor communication from staff -fire alarm went off multiple times in the middle of the night startling everyone awake and forcing us to evacuate during the cold winter months and no communication was sent out for several weeks. -Way too many entries into my apartment. It felt like I was getting notices of entry every other week. Fire alarm inspection, sprinkler inspection, water meter inspection, HVAC inspection, etc etc. Became really invasive knowing strangers walking around in my personal space when I'm not home and walking around my apartment with shoes on when I'm a no shoes in my home gal. Randomly received notices I needed to clean out the entire utility closet for them to inspect my HVAC. That should be done between residents. -Extremely loud constant beeping lift used in courtyard at 8am on 12/23....when everyone was off work and school and many still sleeping. Incredibly obnoxious and inconsiderate of the residents. They claimed for "window repairs". It went on for hours. With so many apartments in the area to choose from, I would do your research and tour them all before making a decision to live at Echelon. My boyfriend lived at The Union right up the street (on aicholtz) and it was much nicer in my opinion.
