Avoid Shearwood: "Modernized" Elevators Are a Dangerous Failure
I have lived at Shearwood for 2.5 years, and the situation has become completely unacceptable. For nearly two years, we endured an "elevator modernization project" that was supposed to fix frequent breakdowns. Despite the project ending months ago, the elevators are now in a worse state than before. They fail 2–3 mornings each week, forcing residents to navigate the stairs. Today, I had to walk down over 10 flights of stairs just to leave my home. When the elevators actually do work, they now stop at every single floor on the way down, even when the buttons aren't pushed. If you're coming from the 15th floor, be prepared to stop at every level. For a building with "luxury" rent rates, this level of mechanical incompetence is damning.
Beyond the elevator nightmare, basic utility and maintenance standards are nonexistent. The hot water takes a full 5 minutes to heat up, forcing you to either waste water or start your morning with a room-temperature shower. The window blinds are incredibly fragile; they constantly fall down, requiring a never-ending cycle of maintenance requests.
The building is simply poorly managed across the board. Packages are frequently dumped in piles of 20–30 in a huge locker, forcing you to dig through everyone else's deliveries to find your own at the bottom. The HVAC system is equally frustrating, using outdated wall boxes with no centralized thermostat that leave your apartment either freezing or stifling. Even the paid parking facility is poorly designed; the garage lanes are incredibly narrow, and if you drive an SUV and are assigned a spot between two other SUVs, there is virtually no space to open your doors without scratching the adjacent vehicles. You are paying an absolute premium for a building that fails to meet the most basic standards of modern living. Do not bother.

1. They will increase your rent by a few hundred dollars and they’ll have no explanation for you .
2. Their management SUCKS there’s always a new employee there ! Terrible communication
3. ITS A REASON PEOPLE LEAVE THIS BUILDING LIKE A REVOLVING DOOR ITS VERY INTERESTING BUT NOW I GET IT .
4. They recycle EVERYTHING Such as Washers,Dryers, refrigerator and Don’t let me get started with their terrible elevator system that people have to wait on long lines for ! You’ll never come and see all four elevators working I bet my life on it !
5. They’ll increase your electricity bill put the blue just because and have no concrete explanation.
I’ve seen so much people moving in and out of this building that it’s actually very weird but I understand now ! They over charge and their service is BS .
If you think you got a steal think again I promise you it’s a terrible building SWEAR TO GOD. Their marketing is great though lol

DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I ordered groceries night and someone stole them right off the "delivery table"- it's been 24 hours and no one has even bothered to say or do anything'! In the video you can see someone take MY groceries. I've lived here for 4 years and them not doing anything to help is incredible!!! They want payments on time and everything else but don't care about their resident! Move ANYWHEREEE BUT HERE!!
This building sells a luxury image; what it actually does is collect rent and ignore people. Management stages tours and plays public relations while the property runs on negligence.
Strangers camp in stairwells for months with zero enforcement. Trash areas overflow day after day- it’s routine, not occasional. Abandoned cars rot in the lot with flat tires and nobody acts. Management posts countless “no storage” emails yet lets bikes and junk pile up everywhere. A verified disability accommodation supported by a doctor’s note was acknowledged, then ignored. When residents speak up, management fabricates “smoking” complaints to intimidate tenants who pay on time and keep to themselves.
This isn’t accidental. It’s performative staging, deliberate disregard, and active disrespect. They sell a lifestyle in photos and deliver chaos in practice. If you value integrity or your safety, do not sign here.
Photos attached below show what residents actually deal with. All recent, unedited, and firsthand.

I'd like to start off by saying the staff who work here are all amazing - the concierge, maintenance, and custodial staff are all very kind, efficient and helpful. I also love the gym which is always clean and has great options for workouts.
It's the management of the building itself why I give 2 stars. They just don't seem to care about the occupants.
The building has been undergoing maintenance in an effort to "modernize" for some time now. The maintenance can be extremely loud and while there may be month long pauses, it always comes back. The video I attached shows the intensity of the noise and especially for us who work from home, it's really overbearing. I understand they need to update, but we have called so many times to ask to at least be warned on maintenance days, and they still do not give us any heads up. At 8:30 this morning is when the drilling started and 45 minutes later, it's still happening. While the rent here may not be as high as other locations, it's still a lot of money and really frustrating we're paying such high prices to be surrounded by construction noise. It'd at least help a little if they let us know when this intense construction would be happening, and how long it's expected to last but they never do.
Previously, they had to close the parking garage for mandatory fixes - which is fine, but they closed each floor for around 3-7 days at a time. All the residents had to pay the full monthly bill for parking even though we had to then pay to park elsewhere for that duration which even for only a few days, is not cheap.
