Have only been here for less than two months, and I’ve had so many maintenance and major issues. From a roof leak causing significant water damage and black mold to stepping on carpet nails to get jabbed by a nail painted over in my closet knob, it’s been one thing after another.
The inspection looked okay, until paint started peeling off the wall, a dirty stove was left, and the other items mentioned above.
Maintenance has done an okay job of being responsible, but not notifying people in the building that the roof came off and apartments above flood is unacceptable from management.
Overall, it’s a nice area and location. The property manager and maintenance has done a good job at being responsive.
However, the inability to report black mold and make an effort to notify and resolve the issue is unacceptable and makes the apartment inhabitable.
I hope they get professionals in to resolve the roof and leakage that they’re responsible for, while
moving us to a habitable unit and paying for the movers to do so.
UPDATE 2 Weeks Later:
Putting my review down to one star. Management actions indicate a disregard for health concerns. I had to get code enforcement in for them to verbally start taking steps toward a sufficient resolution, including replacing porous materials where mold was and also water damage.
The reason why I’m giving one star is due to the fact that management never provided timeframes in which they would get work orders done or compensation for the amount of days I was unable to live in my apartment due to health issues that weren’t resolved.
I kept it one star because the maintenance staff themselves are great and have shown me more respect and concern than management. I appreciate them for dealing with this situation that wasn’t their fault but more due to the building have issues.
Overall, I’d suggest people to look elsewhere for apartments. I’ve had so many issues with mine at a step rent price that if you could afford to spend extra at a better property, it’d be worth it.
Also, if you have pets or small children, they might step on nails like I’ve done - thank god it hasn’t pierced the skin, but it’s also not okay by NYS law. So something else to consider.
