Wow.. Where do I even begin...
My experience with Montego Bay Apartments has been extremely frustrating from the very beginning, and I would strongly *caution* anyone considering moving here. Even if the rent price is a good deal, I would highly highly highly look around other apartments because honestly, Montego Bay is nothing but a headache dealing with Montego Bay's staff and management.
I was given a set move-in date in October 2024 and told the unit would be ready for immediate occupancy. That turned out to be completely untrue. When the date arrived, the apartment was nowhere near ready and required major repairs. Instead of moving in as promised, I was delayed by an additional 2–3 weeks, which caused significant disruption and unnecessary stress.
To make matters worse, despite not being able to move in on time, management still attempted to charge me for the full month of October rent. Expecting a tenant to pay for time they couldn’t even access the unit is completely unreasonable and added to an already frustrating situation.
The condition of the unit upon move-in was unacceptable. I had hired a cleaner to prepare the apartment before I moved in, and while cleaning the kitchen appliances, she discovered maggots inside both the fridge and the microwave. She immediately sent me photos, and I went straight to management to address the issue. Instead of taking immediate responsibility, they told me they would have pest control “look at it.” When I requested a replacement fridge, I was told, “you don’t get to decide that—once we speak to pest control, we will decide whether or not to give you a new fridge.” After going back and forth for over a day and getting nowhere, I had to threaten to involve OSHA and legal action because it is clearly unsafe and unsanitary to expect someone to use appliances in that condition. Their response was to claim that pest control had “cleaned it out,” which is absolutely disgusting and not an acceptable solution.
Since moving in 2024, I've had to submit maintenance request almost everyday for either the sink being clogged, toilet breaking, the wall paint breaking off. They just patch things up and expect that crappy patch work to hold up. Indeed couple weeks later, need to submit another maintenance request for the same exact reason!
Another major issue is the inconsistency and quality of the staff. Every time I reach out, I end up dealing with someone new—there’s no continuity, and it feels like no one knows what’s going on. Even worse, many of the newer staff members I’ve interacted with have been rude and unhelpful, showing a clear lack of basic customer service and professionalism.
Communication overall is one of the biggest problems here. It is nearly impossible to get a timely response from management. I’ve had to call repeatedly and send multiple emails about the same issue, only to be ignored or receive no resolution. At one point, I had to involve my mother just to get any kind of acknowledgment, which is completely unacceptable. It honestly feels like once they recognize my number or email, they just choose not to respond.
Another thing future tenants should be aware of: the unit you are shown is not necessarily the unit you will be living in. They will show you a beautiful unit that is high tech and just overall a beautiful showing model. The model or showing unit looked nothing like the one I eventually received. I highly recommend insisting on seeing the exact unit you will be renting before signing anything, otherwise you may end up very disappointed.
Overall, the lack of professionalism, poor communication, misleading information, and unacceptable living conditions have made this a very negative experience. What should have been a straightforward move turned into an ongoing source of stress and frustration. I would not recommend Montego Bay Apartments based on my experience.
I am still waiting to hear back from Yvonee Rosales one of the "business managers" there to discuss some payment plan for my early termination of my lease. sent 4 emails and no reply :DDD
