I am extremely disappointed with the management and overall experience at this apartment complex. I am writing this as a frequent visitor of my parents, who are residents here, and I have personally witnessed many of the issues they have been dealing with.
Recently, I visited my parents and followed the proper protocol by going to the concierge and obtaining a guest parking pass before parking in a designated guest parking space. When I went downstairs to get something from my vehicle, a member of management approached me and had an unpleasant demeanor. He continued staring at me while I was getting my belongings. I even greeted him to see if there was an issue, but he said nothing.
My mother eventually approached him and asked if there was a problem. He stated that if I was a resident, I should not be parking in guest parking. She explained that I am NOT a resident, I was visiting her, and I had a valid guest parking pass. Instead of simply acknowledging the misunderstanding, he continued speaking to both of us in a rude and disrespectful manner. When my mother asked who he was, he identified himself as management.
What makes this interaction even more frustrating is that my parents have been trying to get management to address numerous issues within their apartment and throughout the building, with very little follow-through.
The apartment has multiple concerns, including poor window fixtures, bulging/buckling carpet, cracking around the perimeter of the walls, uneven floors, uneven cabinets, floors with embedded dirt that appears to have been left from previous occupants, termite concerns, and mold throughout the bathroom. My parents have emailed and called regarding these issues, yet they have experienced little acknowledgment or meaningful follow-up.
There are also recurring problems with the building’s Spectrum TV/streaming service. My parents have come home multiple times to find that their television is not working. When they bring this to management, they are simply given a telephone number for Spectrum. There is no apparent effort to help remedy the recurring issue or follow up afterward.
The parking situation is another major concern. My parents PAY for three parking spaces, yet people are able to enter the garage and park throughout the garage without paying. There have also been instances of people kicking in or forcing open garage doors despite not living in the Sheffield in order to gain access to the main entrance. Residents from the Vivian have also been parking in visitor spaces, and it does not appear that these rules are being consistently enforced.
That is why the interaction with me was particularly frustrating. A guest who followed the proper procedure, obtained a guest parking pass, and parked in a designated visitor space was confronted by management, while there appear to be much larger ongoing issues involving unauthorized parking, building access, maintenance, security, and services that residents have repeatedly brought to management’s attention.
The issue is not simply one unpleasant interaction. It is the ongoing lack of communication, consistency, enforcement, and follow-through. Residents are paying to live here and deserve to have legitimate concerns acknowledged and addressed. They also deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect.
I hope management takes these concerns seriously and starts addressing the issues that residents have been bringing to their attention rather than simply providing phone numbers or sending emails that receive little to no follow-up.
