⭐️ 1 STAR — Extremely disappointing experience with South Pointe Apartments
I would absolutely NOT recommend South Pointe Apartments to anyone, especially someone relocating from out of town.
My daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, stepson, and his girlfriend relocated six hours away from home for work. They actually started the application process before they ever left Louisiana because they wanted to make sure they had housing lined up when they arrived. Instead, they have now spent almost three weeks living in a hotel, costing them over $1,500, because of the constant delays and lack of communication from this complex.
The excuses and explanations changed constantly. First, they were told the people living in the three-bedroom apartment had decided they didn’t want to move, so they would have to temporarily move into a two-bedroom—which they were willing to do. Then they were told they had to wait on a background check because they were from Louisiana. Then there were repairs that needed to be completed. It was one thing after another.
The biggest problem was the complete lack of communication. My daughter was constantly having to call just to get any kind of update, and there were multiple times when calls weren’t answered or returned. For people who had relocated six hours from home for employment and were paying for a hotel every night, this was incredibly frustrating and stressful.
After nearly three weeks of this, I made one phone call to another apartment complex. Within 24 hours, they completed the application process and my family had their keys. That experience made it very clear that the situation with South Pointe was completely unacceptable.
When I called South Pointe to cancel the application, I was told that the $175 application fee would not be refunded because they had not been denied—they were simply delayed. After nearly three weeks of waiting and more than $1,500 spent on a hotel, I find that explanation extremely disappointing.
To make matters worse, the attitude and rudeness we experienced during phone calls with management only added to the frustration. Management needs to seriously work on communication, professionalism, and respect for the people who are trusting them with something as important as finding a home.
People relocate for jobs, spend money based on promises and timelines, and expect basic communication and professionalism. My family deserved much better than this.
Three weeks in a hotel, over $1,500 in unnecessary expenses, constant runaround, poor communication, and then being told their $175 fee won’t be refunded because they were “delayed” rather than denied.
I would never recommend South Pointe Apartments based on this experience.
