In order to write a comprehensive review, it’s important to recognize what IS and what ISN’T in control of The Bessemer.
The building itself? Beautiful. The office ladies are so sweet and lovely! They radiate care, and remember details you share with them, and check in with you! They were truly the light of my experience staying at The Bessemer!
The gym is a lovely commodity - very rarely experienced unsupervised kids in the gym, and when there were, my issues were addressed immediately.
The Bessemer understands that for the cost of your unit, you expect a luxury experience, and inside the building, that is certainly provided!
What they can’t control, however, are the homeless encampments directly outside, as it is owned by the city of Minneapolis and Excel Energy. With that, they’re not able to *do* anything to help their residents. They do set up meetings for residents with city representatives, but this is a MINNEAPOLIS ISSUE - NOT a Bessemer issue.
After 5 minutes of research, you’ll find that this area has historically been a hub for homeless in Minneapolis, and these luxury buildings are simply an attempt to subtly gentrify. Clearly, it’s not working as intended, but again, that is NOT the fault of The Bessemer.
I really enjoyed my stay, and wish I could’ve afforded to take the lease on by myself - it was just too steep for what it was. I will forever miss my balcony with the beautiful Minneapolis skyline, though!!

There has been an uptick in safety concerns, i.e. cars broken into in the “secured” garage, packages being stolen from the package room, however management refuses to provide in person security. Instead, emails are sent out informing tenants on ways that we can keep the building safe—as if the building’s lack of security is our fault and responsibility. This building has went to trash since I moved here in 2022–tenants leave trash on the hallway floors, on the elevators etc. Management rarely sends out emails with announcements or to remind tenants of a cleanliness standard in the common spaces. I will DEFINITELY be moving out once my lease ends. Do not move here.

The Bessemer management and Schafer-Richardson company are only interested in ONE thing, money. Cars are broken into regularly in the "secured" garage and packages are stolen from the package room, yet they refuse to take any action. There are cameras all around the building, but they refuse to release footage to authorities when an incident arises. In response to safety concerns, they continuously blame residents for letting outsiders in and fail to get any type of in person security. They do not care about their residents and constantly make excuses for why things cannot get done. DO NOT MOVE HERE. You will regret it.
