I’m a complainer. I barely ever leave 5 star reviews but I’ll give this place one. For context, 30-something single white guy living here 3 years. I’ve rented in Chicago, NYC, and California. This place is by far the best landlord and apartment I’ve ever had. Things I like: I don’t even know anyone in management, never talked to them; I have never had a reason to. The place is well run and that’s the hallmark of a good landlord/tenant relationship: they don’t know me and I don’t know them. The complex is huge and the grounds are really taken care of. The landscaping guys really keep the place looking great. The maintenance guys are awesome, and it’s only gotten better over the past few years with them when I have needed something fixed. They communicate, constantly tell you what’s going on. The apartment layouts are great. Is it premium luxury? No. But the apartments are nice for the price. The windows are good (so many places have poor windows that cost you a hidden fortune to heat and cool your place). They have nice pools. Plenty of places to walk and jog without leaving the complex. It’s perfectly situated by the interstate, I can walk to a premium mall—it doesn’t get better for location. Slight “downside” that isn’t even a down side: the south asian population here is immense and cultural differences can cause some friction (kids running around at all hours in the hallway etc) but I’ll take that over having my car broken into or loud parties or anything else that comes with your average apartment complex crowd. The kids are all cute and well-behaved but they’re kids. I have never stayed in one apartment for so long but this place has caused me no reason to leave. Another thing I like: a lot of the staff live here and have longevity here. Turnover is low which says a lot. Also, with a lot of them living here they treat the place like their home and it shows.

We’ve enjoyed living at Somerset Park Apartments overall. The floor plans are nice, the amenities are a great bonus, and the area is very family-friendly with a lot of nature around, which we really appreciate. Maintenance has also been reliable — they respond to work orders and usually follow through in a timely manner.
Angelica in the leasing office has also been amazing to work with. She’s always been very quick with communication, helpful, and willing to assist with anything we’ve needed throughout our time here.
That said, I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who is very sensitive to noise, as the walls can be pretty thin and you may hear neighboring tenants at times. Some of the repair work and finishes also feel a bit rushed or poorly done. But overall, for the location, layout, and community atmosphere, it’s been a decent place to live.

We had an extremely disappointing experience applying for a townhouse with this property.
The townhouse was listed with a move-in date of 6/13/26 for at least a week, which aligned perfectly with our family’s cross-country move from California to Michigan. Based on that advertised availability, we submitted an application, completed the screening process, and passed verification for both income and credit history.
After being told we passed the initial approval process, we then received a call informing us that the 6/13/26 move-in date was supposedly a “computer error” that staff had missed. We were then told the actual move-in date would be 7/3/26 — nearly three weeks later.
This was not a small inconvenience. We are relocating across the country with children and a dog, and this sudden change would have forced us to pay for weeks of hotels or Airbnbs during an already stressful and expensive move.
What made the experience truly unacceptable was not simply the mistake itself, but the complete lack of accountability and professionalism afterward.
When we expressed understandable frustration, we were immediately met with excuses about managing over 2,000 apartments and how “things get missed.” We were also repeatedly told that because we were not formally approved yet, they were unwilling to accommodate us in any way, despite the fact that we applied specifically because of the advertised move-in date.
We asked to speak with a manager, and Lindsey (I believe that was her name) returned our call. Unfortunately, the conversation only became more dismissive. We were told things such as:
“You weren’t approved so we’re not doing anything to accommodate you,”
“There’s other places in the area that you can live,” and
“We’re not making accommodations because of your preference.”
At no point did it feel like there was any genuine concern, empathy, or ownership of the situation. Instead, it felt like we were being blamed for expecting the move-in date listed on their own website to be accurate.
Mistakes happen. What defines a company is how they respond when those mistakes impact people’s lives. In our case, the response was defensive, dismissive, and entirely lacking in customer care.
Moving across the country is already stressful enough. This experience made it significantly worse, and it was, in every sense, a terrible customer experience.

Jennifer is phenomenal. She communicates everything thoroughly, is quick to respond, and it’s so helpful. Moving is a stressful time but Jennifer definitely makes it as easy as possible.
