I am now entering my second year of my lease, and unfortunately, I will absolutely be looking elsewhere when my lease is up. About three months after moving in, a leak occurred from the apartment above mine. The water damage was never properly painted or repaired. There are water stains all throughout my apartment because of the leak and they were supposed to paint it “when they fixed it” but they did not. When I later found what appeared to be mold, I was told, “It’s not mold,” instead of the area being properly inspected they just wiped it down. Then proceeded to provide me documentation on how to treat mold. Because the leak and surrounding areas were not properly addressed, my apartment now has a persistent smell that I cannot get rid of. I have tried plug-ins, candles, and mopping, but nothing fixes the issue. I am also currently TWO WEEKS without a working dryer. I was told a technician came out and fixed it, and management even stated in an email that they make sure appliances are working after repairs. After finally doing a load of laundry, I went to use the dryer and, surprise it still doesn’t work. Clearly, the repair was either not done properly or the appliance was never actually tested. Now onto the AC. My AC recently broke and was supposedly repaired. However, it is now running constantly because it is barely pushing out any airflow. My apartment is reaching 76° at night and 78° during the day, despite the AC running nonstop. I have never had this issue, even when temperatures were in the 90s. A technician came out and said it was fixed, yet the problem remains. At this point, the biggest issue is the lack of urgency and the lack of properly completed repairs. I should not have to repeatedly report the same issues, wait weeks, and then discover that the repair was never actually completed. Having an AC run day and night without properly cooling the apartment is also concerning because it is potentially driving up my electricity bill. I have been extremely patient, but after dealing with water damage, a persistent odor, a broken dryer, and an AC that still isn’t functioning properly, I cannot recommend living here. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this property to ask very specific questions about maintenance response times and whether repairs are actually completed and verified before signing a lease.

The window blinds and dryer were fixed fine - although I did have to call the office after a week and ask about the request, which is usually unnecessary. (Previous requests were addressed in about 2 days). I don't know if our issue with our AC was addressed or not - no one left a note about it, or talked to me about it. The maintenance request is still visible in the portal - but there's nothing except what I wrote. I am also disappointed that although the portal invites us to load images (I loaded an image of the error we were getting on the dryer), the images are never passed on to the person doing the fix. A picture could be very helpful if the repair takes place when no one is home.

I’m extremely disappointed with the way Somerset Park Apartments treats its residents. It feels like management simply does not care once you’re living here. There are constantly issues with the apartments, and when something needs to be repaired, you can expect to wait forever just to get someone to address it. My dryer has not been working for 2 weeks now. I’ve called multiple times, left voicemails, and nobody even has the courtesy to call me back with an update. When I finally got an explanation, I was told, “It’s the time of season.” That is not an acceptable excuse. Regardless of how busy you are, it should not take two weeks to fix a basic appliance, especially with no communication whatsoever. Residents pay rent and should not have to repeatedly chase management down just to get basic maintenance handled. At the very least, return your residents’ phone calls and keep them updated. The lack of communication and urgency here is ridiculous. I would seriously think twice before moving here.

I’ve truly loved living at Somerset Park in Troy! One of my favorite things about the community is how quiet, peaceful, and walkable it is. The property has so much green space, and I’ve really enjoyed being able to get outside and walk around the community. The walking paths and overall layout make it feel much more open and relaxing than a typical apartment complex. The location is also fantastic. It’s incredibly convenient to shopping, restaurants, and everything around Troy, while still feeling peaceful once you’re home. I’ve also really enjoyed the amenities and how much the community has to offer. Overall, Somerset Park has been a wonderful place to call home, and I’ve had a genuinely positive experience living here. I would absolutely be staying if it was closer to my work. I’m sad to leave and would definitely recommend Somerset Park to anyone looking for a quiet, walkable, and conveniently located community in the Troy area!

Lived here for 2 years. It is a good place to live. A lot of open space well maintained throughout the year. I still want to give 5* beside some cons. For example, one time during the evening the water pipe in the kitchen sink crashed. The kitchen was flooding with water. And i needed some maintenance or live without using water in the kitchen. Their evening maintenance requires extra cost, phones are never answered and sometimes if they answer, they don't respond in professional manner. Please use my 5* as a motivation to provide better services. During checkout, I left the apartment in a very clean condition. Some stains in the carpet (especially in the living room were hard to remove). I am sure the other parts in the carpet in the apartment (bedrooms) had no stains. The management took most of my deposit deducting depreciation in the original price of the carpet. I wasn't happy with this. I hope my +ve review (despite some negative experience) can help to make the place better for future residents.
