I only wish there was an option to leave negative stars. Midtown Apartments has been, without question, one of the worst rental experiences imaginable. From day one, the lack of communication and professionalism was evident. We couldn’t even get basic information about how to access our apartment or obtain our keys on move-in day. After getting nowhere with Midtown, another Gillespie-owned property finally directed us where to go. When we arrived, nobody even seemed aware we were scheduled to move in. Eventually, someone named Isaiah Bailey stepped in to help us get access and told us to email him if we needed anything further. Unfortunately, that was the last meaningful response we ever received. That experience set the tone for everything that followed. Over the past 10 months, we’ve dealt with repeated appliance issues, garbage overflowing from dumpsters, questionable safety concerns including drug activity and individuals sleeping in the parking garage, and an almost complete inability to get anyone to respond to emails or phone calls. The pattern is clear: they are incredibly efficient when it comes to charging tenants fees, but completely absent when it comes to providing support, maintenance, or customer service. To make matters worse, we provided more than 60 days notice that we would not be renewing our lease, only to be told that wasn’t sufficient because Midtown requires 120 days notice. As a result, they are attempting to charge us over $1,200 in “reletting fees.” It’s honestly absurd. Once again, the focus appears to be on extracting every dollar possible from tenants rather than operating with fairness, professionalism, or basic decency. If Midtown genuinely believes they are entitled to a reletting fee under these circumstances, I look forward to addressing it in court. What’s most frustrating is that none of this is new. Read the reviews from the past two years and you’ll see the exact same complaints repeated over and over again: poor communication, ignored maintenance requests, lack of accountability, and management that hides behind generic responses promising to “look into it.” Yet nothing ever changes. I’m sure the response to this review will be another polished, AI-generated apology claiming this “isn’t the experience they strive to provide.” The reality is that this has clearly been the standard experience for many tenants for years. Shame on Gillespie for allowing properties to operate this way. It’s especially disappointing knowing that so many MSU students and faculty rely on housing options like this and are treated as captive tenants rather than valued residents. Updated after Midtown's response - You say to contact management when a problem occurs or theres an unsafe environment around the property, but that is the problem. There's nobody to contact because nobody answers the phone or responds to an email. You just don't get it!

Lived here for 3 years during my time at MSU. Loved being close to campus and near the shopping/food of Frandor.

Current tenant here. The leasing office is not answering calls/messages/emails for the past few weeks. I'm not sure what's going on. I hope to be able to remove/edit this review if I hear back.

I lived here for one year and it was a great apartment. It even had a washer and dryer in unit which other places that cost more didn’t offer. It’s super close to MSU campus and the lease of office is super friendly and helpful.

I have been trying to reach the leasing office for a whole week. I’ve called about 5 times, emailed twice, and have gotten no responses. I even went to the leasing office during their work hours, and guess what? Whoever was supposed to work there on a Thursday was out for lunch for possibly more than 2 hours. I got there at around 12:30pm and went back at 2pm, no one was there! Do you even want people to rent a unit when we can’t even reach you guys? Do a better job on customer service.
