I’ve genuinely enjoyed the look and layout of my apartment, but the ongoing lack of communication and accountability from Gillespie Group has made living here harder than it should be.
About a week before Christmas I was suddenly removed from my unit due to structural issues and placed in a hotel. When I returned, the noise and related problems continued for months in the lower apartments due to heavy structural repairs and so on—most neighbors had to move out entirely. I was reimbursed one month’s rent and offered other units, but they didn’t match the amenities I have now and came with higher rent. When it was time to renew, the proposed rent increase was around $1,300 for the year. After I pushed back it came down closer to $900, which still left me feeling like the focus was on recovering what they’d reimbursed me rather than treating me as a valued resident.
I’m a quiet tenant who pays rent on time and tries to be a good neighbor. What I want most is simply to come home without surprises. Instead I’ve dealt with subcontractors entering my unit unannounced (including today), poor communication with repairs, and the sense that problems are rarely owned. Staff are friendly on the surface, but follow-through and accountability have been consistently lacking. I’ve escalated concerns as high as the VP with little real resolution. One recent conversation with a team member who actually took ownership felt surprisingly refreshing—maybe change is possible.
I also received a lease violation for not updating renters insurance through the portal, something that wasn’t required or mentioned in my original lease and that I was never notified about. Requests to reverse the related charges went nowhere.
I like the community and want to enjoy living here. Local staff mentioned higher-ups sometimes get in the way of better resident care. The repeated interruptions, rising costs, and lack of follow-through are no bueno. Former residents have shared similar experiences with rate increases and unresolved issues. Leadership and consistent processes seem to be the core problem.
I hope Gillespie Group improves communication, accountability, and respect for residents’ time and homes. Until then, I unfortunately can’t recommend living here. Should you decide to do so the community is friendly. Theyve renovated some of the apartments from what I've seen. Hopefully your experience will deserve a 5 star review.
