I originally rated this place 3 stars because of it met my basic requirements for living and accomodations. After my 2nd year, I can no longer give that same rating. Maintenance has been friendly, but they get nothing done. We have had no AC for the past 5 months since December, and our heating and cooling both no longer work. With the fast temperature rise in the spring my roommate had a heat stroke and I rushed him to the hospital and the apartment complex still refused to service us, dismissing all of our work orders since March. We have filed a formal city complaint about our living conditions and my roommates and I plan on taking legal action in the future due to it's poor accomodation. Don't recommending living here.

I would not recommend this complex to anyone. The photos attached show the actual condition of the unit.
The HVAC air handler was visibly filthy inside with grime-caked walls and a filter housing that looked like it hadn't been serviced in years. Window tracks had black mold packed into them. Carpet was heavily stained throughout with dark buildup along the baseboards. The sink drain had rust staining and what appears to be a duct tape patch instead of a real repair. Outlets had cracked covers with chipping, peeling paint. The bathroom exhaust fan had a gap around the ceiling cutout and was caked in dust. Ceiling water damage was painted over rather than actually fixed.
The central AC was broken for essentially the entire lease. It was finally repaired 2 weeks before I moved out, meaning I had working AC for maybe 2 weeks of a 12-month lease and used it once or twice. Management's compensation for this was $300 in gift cards across the full lease, $25 a month — on a unit priced above $800 per room.
Maintenance staff were friendly and not the problem. The problem is what management allows these units to become and how little urgency they show when tenants raise legitimate issues repeatedly.
I wouldn't pay more than $500–600 per room for what we actually got here. Look elsewhere in East Lansing.
UPDATE in response to reply:
Interesting that management considers 9 months without a functioning AC unit to be “addressed in a timely manner.” The AC was broken when I moved in and fixed 2 weeks before I moved out. I’ll keep that in mind as the new standard for proactive response. The photos I attached are also apparently the result of a team that “takes pride” in their work. I’ll let anyone reading this draw their own conclusions.

Door to main entrance gets stuck open and remains unlocked for majority of days. My own door handle gets stuck almost every time you try to turn it. Floorboard all throughout are coming up bubbling off the floor couch missing covers and all scratched up (all of which was present before move in) when I asked maintenance guy he shrugged and said oh well.

Overall, have had a pretty good experience living here. The repair guys are always very quick, the nature outside is nice, and there are frequently events going on which are nice. Only real problems were some move in issues where some of the furniture and overall apartment were more dirty/broken than expected, and the problem with frequent stink bugs(though it is on a marsh so only so much you can do).

Overall it’s not a bad place to live, I love the location it’s not super far off campus but it’s also not super close either. The lake and trail near the buildings make this place really beautiful and nice to live in especially if you don’t like the city crowded feel. Price wasn’t bad we are on the top floor and pay $850 a month plus utilities, we also have more space though given the vaulted ceiling 2b/2b. It’s pretty spacious and the air out there feels fresh. That said… THE FURNITURE OH MY GOD DO NOT GET PARTIALLY FURNISHED ITS NOT WORTH IT. THE FURNITURE IS AWFUL. The couch and chair is leather and the freaking leather was like falling off the furniture. Like it serious was just shredded and it was so gross. The coffee table is the only things that was like nice. I will say the closet space in the bedrooms is really nice. But maintenance they do not show up in a timely manner at all. Like I requested closet doors and never got them. So my closet just hasn’t had doors all year, and I’ve put in multiple requests. Also the AC units here, are a joke they don’t work you really gotta use fans and circulate the air in other ways but the air flow is nice here so it isn’t too bad. The heater works great though. I will say that our apartment randomly makes really loud honk sounds that sound like a trunk horn every now and then but it lasts like 5 seconds and just randomly occurs. Also intercoms for unlocking and talking to people through the little voice thing doesn’t work and it’s so staticky. Other than this stuff it’s not bad.
