We lived at The George for 14 months. We agree the new management team is excellent! We found that everyone was very friendly and kind. The dogs in the building were very well behaved and we never heard barking!
Our one complaint is no fault of The George—the blame is aimed at DTE. In the 14 months we were there, we lost power for 18 days. That’s tough when you are 81 and use a walker! (We were on the 5th floor and the elevators didn’t work! The new management company should really push the owners to invest in a generator.
I would recommend The George to anyone looking for a nice, clean, quiet apartment with great amenities and a super staff ready to help you.

If you want to live in a building where the power goes out for 3-5 days at a time every month or 2, and when the fire alarms go off in the middle of the night every month (sometimes multiple nights in a two week span leading us to waiting outside in the cold with our pets), then this is the place for you. Otherwise, avoid this place. Listen to the other reviews. The apartment may look nice, but the jarring interruptions into your life are not. Having lived in several large apartment complexes in Chicago, the number of power outages and fire alarms in this building is unprecedented. Yes, part of the power outage situation is due to DTE, but this building is not built in an area with modern/updated power grids. The prices are not worth your sanity, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
P.S. The theatre room, which they advertise as a unique amenity, is completely useless because management doesn’t even know the password to their own Amazon Firestick, even after asking several times to have them figure it out.

Living at the George has been nothing short of a great experience, the staff is always so helpful and diligent with any problem that I have had. Colleen and Jaylen working in the front office so kind and accommodating, and have made living in this apartment complex a really great experience. If you are looking for a place to live that has great amenities, floor plans, lots of space, and a great environment, this is definitely the place to choose.
Terrible insulation = High electric bills. I used to work here, I also worked on the building before it was open. The fire alarms often go off, throughout the entire building even after hours, wouldn't recommend for new parents and animal parents. The parking garage floods in the winter due to horrible building design. All of the main water pipes are in the parking garage so they freeze constantly. The doors handles are made for simple hotels. That means they reset often, very often, so the residents get locked out and have to wait for someone to let them into their apartments that are ridiculously overpriced in the first place. Its been managed by 3 or 4 different management companies. Its been open for about 3 years and yet all the retail stores they have on the building are still empty, probably because the building design. If you like spending premium prices for things you can get from the projects, The George is the place for you!
The building took forever to build and became the eyesore of the neighborhood for years. Once it was completed, they must’ve tried to make the ugliest looking box for a building. It was built cheaply and the rooms are wayyyyy too expensive for the quality and problems that occur there. It has been up and running for a while now and still looks like a ghost town. No shops have opened up in it so the windows are covered in generic pictures. I won’t be surprised if this goes under in the next couple years. Hopefully it’ll be a grocery store again, that was a lot more useful for the city.
