I recommend this apartment if you are an undergraduate student looking for a cheap apartment and you don’t have friends over often.
I lived here for 2 years. 2023-2024, left for 6 months and then 2024-2026.
PROS:
- Close to a lot of stores, the mall, highway,
- affordable rent (depending on when you sign)
- nice normal apartment
- maintenance fixes things very fast
- leasing staff is so nice!!! You’ll see a lot of reviews about Kyla who was amazing, however, Margo & John are great! Very friendly and professional.
CONS:
- Have seen mice
- PARKING PARKING PARKING!!!
- bad ventilation in the summer time
- solicitors knock on your door every few weeks
- no locked building doors
- no cameras on buildings
- crime (stealing tires, busting car windows, etc.).
- If you live by the wooded area (Charles View Way), look out for wild life like foxes and raccoons, also if you live on the wooded area there’s a lot of mud and maintenance men just splash through with their golf carts and it makes it super messy to walk through when it rains.
- A tree fell on my car, Kenilworth did nothing, be careful parking near wooded area/trees on the property. (They should really have those trees trimmed/cut)
- Pool opens when BCPS gets out of school for the summer; so forget everyone else who does not have kids but wants to use the pool when everyone else does (Memorial Day)
- Pool closes before Labor Day, when kids go back to school.
- The pool is basically children only, thats who the hours cater to.
Parking:
I have been complaining for months and after reaching out to Continental Realty.. they called and said that “we can not add more visitor spots because it would stop residents from finding a parking space” which is FALSE.
At night, there are more than enough spots available to where they could label more visitor spots. There are about 3 visitor spots per building- and in my building, they allowed a man to take up a visitor spot for an entire year with his work vehicle. When I was on the phone I said “this could be solved if you give everyone 1 complimentary guest pass or label more visitor spots” and her response was “OR he could follow the rules”
So either way, Kenilworth at Charles is allowing a tenant to take up guest parking and break the rules. They are ok with rule breaking. If you want to live in a complex like that, go for it!
You can get a visitor pass, but only on Thursdays and it expires Monday. Like we are children.
AC in the summer:
I would have my AC set on 60!! And my apartment would still be 75 degrees. When I put in a request, they said the AC was fine and I just need to keep my blinds closed. Open blinds should not stop the AC from working.
Nice apartment for ONLY a year if you’re young and aren’t home much. As a grad student working from home, I needed more from them.
The cons are NOT a reflection of the leasing staff, but more so continental realty
