I would never recommend the Brittany Apartments to anyone. In our three years here, we've had consistent issues with plumbing leaks, bad contractors, appliances that don't work, packages being stolen, noisy landscaping, and to top it all off, they're working on cutting down just about every tree in the complex. If you move here, you will NEVER be free from maintenance issues. Just when I think things aren't so bad here, there's another issue. SO many reviews here detail issues with plumbing, with no working heat or air conditioning, and general bad conditions. I find it highly suspect that there is a sudden influx of 5 star reviews.
We first moved in near the end of April 2022. In September there was a massive leak from our utility closet, damaging some of our belongings and required weeks of dehumidifiers, drywall repair, and the discovery and removal of termites in our floor. My wife has migraines and works from home, so this was less than ideal. They also left us missing pieces of the floor under the carpet. One month later, we had water leaking through a light fixture in our closet - something you may notice is a common theme in the reviews. The plumbing is just not good.
From October 21 to December 12, we had an active leak in our closet and over the course of that time we sent a total of 8 maintenance requests. They kept coming out, shrugging and leaving us with water dripping out of our lightbulb. I called the number left on several bad reviews here in an attempt to be taken seriously, and the woman said "Have you put in a maintenance request?" Finally they sent someone out after I had to get mean with someone at the front desk. They came in, actually opened up the ceiling more than a few inches, and quickly exclaimed that the pipes were leaking! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT? Then they left us with a huge hole in the ceiling we had to chase them to fix.
In August 2023, we had another leak from the utility closet, and finally got them to replace the missing flooring. We've had issues with the sinks and bathtub not draining. Our dishwasher has never drained correctly, we've been asking them to unclog it successfully since the end of 2023. Still smells like rotten eggs every time we run it. At least it works, I guess. In March 2025, we had plumbers show up out of nowhere, explain nothing, and left two GIANT holes in our ceiling. I figured they would send someone to fix the holes but nope, I had to call about the holes. They sent another contractor to fix the holes which they did, but they also left caulk all over the sink and floor. Finally, today, May 2025, I got something out of the hall closet and noticed there is water leaking through the ceiling. This is the FIFTH leak we've had in three years.
One of the biggest reasons we chose to move here was because of all the mature trees. Over the years, they've cut down more and more, and in the past month they've cut down about 15 trees (and counting). Their website still boasts about "lush landscaping with mature trees" and how you can "hear the stream". With the trees gone, you can hear the highway traffic more than ever. We would never have re-signed for this year if we knew they would be removing all of the trees.
Also, you have to pay for a pool pass each year, even though you're already paying for the pool.
