  When I drove into the community I was excited and impressed with how clean it was. And woodsy! Lots of trees and shade. The leasing agent was professional and answered all questions perfectly. I’m hoping for the possibility of living there someday.

  I signed a lease with Doncaster Village Apartments, then submitted an intent to terminate the lease shortly after picking up the keys due to odors within the apartment building and the individual unit. There were several other personal reasons, but they ultimately led to my decision to terminate the lease. I paid the fee equal to two months' rent (as required per the lease agreement) and voluntarily gave back the keys to management on the same day. Unfortunately, I am still expected to be financially responsible for the rent until the 30-day notice period is up. I would expect some leeway or discretion provided by management due to voluntarily giving up the keys before the "official" termination date. However, the management company has listed the apartment as available with a date of 9/21/26, which is well before the lease termination date. This gives an intent to "double dip" on the remainder of September's rent and October's rent with another tenant. Additionally, since utilities are required throughout the original lease, this may cause some issues with BGE billing if a tenant were to move into the unit prior to the lease termination date on my end. Overall, after only holding the unit for 3 days, paying upwards of $3,800 between move-in costs and ETF, and voluntarily giving back the keys to make management's life easier, I am not happy to see that the unit has been posted as available before my lease is even slated to be terminated. You are already getting the lease termination fee, while expecting rent for an unoccupied unit, yet still want to seek rent from a new tenant during the same time period? I understand that leases are binding agreements and that contract law is a complicated thing, but there is a level of reasonableness, fairness, and discretion that should be exercised on a case-by-case basis. Apartments are largely fine, besides the smell. Weak electrical system as two bedrooms and bath will share one 15amp circuit, not sure if that is up to code nowadays. Xfinity and Verizon available. Verizon ONT was missing, but is supposed to always remain on premises. Mailbox still had old tenant's mail in it. Free storage closet was filled with previous tenant's garbage, but I was given a head's up and the closet was scheduled to be cleaned.

  I would not recommend living here. The building has a serious pest problem, including mice, rats, and insects. Seeing pests around the property has become a regular issue, and it makes the place feel unsanitary and unsuitable for comfortable living. Management needs to take this problem seriously and provide a proper, long-term solution. I would strongly advise anyone considering moving here to think twice. You’ll pay rent for mace to live with everyday.

  I moved in to this horrible apartment in March. Since then I have had to make request, after request, after request. First it was as simple as one of the burners on my stove not working. They decided to replace the stove entirely and when I got home my apartment was filled with gas because they did not properly install it. I was terrified for my cat and luckily she didn't die. It was a traumatic experience and all that management did was "give a stern talking to, to the maintenance team". Right after moving in, the shower drain was clogging up every two weeks. It took them coming out multiple times before they actually fixed it. My washing machine smelled of mold and they refused to replace it and just sent someone to wash it. Not long after, it started leaking water from the front, and they had to replace it entirely. The air conditioning started acting funny in July, the hottest month of summer. Someone came out to look at it right before my 4th of July break and confirmed it was not working properly but because I have an "outside unit" they were not legally allowed to fix it and I would have to wait until the Monday after my supposed to be relaxing break to fix it. Meanwhile having to use two poorly installed windows units attached with cardboard and little tape which allowed moisture from humidity into my apartment. It cost me more money in my already high BGE bill. Two times now they have claimed it was looked at and fixed and my AC is still not working properly. Everytime maintenance does anything in my apartment, it has been done poorly, improperly and they leave trash and mess. Terrified to know what else I will have to face before my lease is up.
