I lived here last year and wanted to share my experience for anyone considering renting here. While there were definitely some pros, I unfortunately experienced many cons. Hopefully some of these issues have improved since then, but this was my experience. I lived here alone with my dog, which definitely shaped my experience.
When I first moved in, I noticed some dents and damage throughout the apartment, so I took photos to document everything. The carpet also wasn't very clean. Within my first few days, I started seeing roaches throughout the apartment. Despite keeping my apartment clean, taking the trash out regularly, and trying roach bombs, boric acid, and traps, they continued appearing in the kitchen, bathroom, and even on my dog's bed throughout my stay. This was by far the worst issue. I also had what sounded like a bird or squirrel in the wall that kept me awake for two nights before maintenance came out, and I'm pretty sure it ended up dying in the wall.
I also noticed the walls and floors were extremely thin. I had an issue with a downstairs neighbor repeatedly complaining about normal apartment noise, so I contacted the leasing office to address it. They had me provide details about what happened, and the situation improved afterward. However, the neighbor continued making me uncomfortable at times, including creating uncomfortable situations in the stairwell while I was walking my dog.
Throughout my lease, I dealt with several maintenance issues. The dryer barely worked for months before being replaced, my toilet clogged/backed up and caused a sewage smell, the building entry door was frequently broken, and my mailbox stayed broken long enough that the post office stopped delivering my mail until it was repaired. Maintenance was hit or miss. Some issues were handled quickly, while others required multiple follow-ups. I appreciated that they respected my request to only enter when I was home because of my dog, but repairs often took longer. There were also frequent inspections and entries into the apartment, which could be difficult to manage with a nervous pet. One maintenance employee also asked me out, and after I declined, it felt like getting maintenance assistance became more difficult, although I can't say for certain if the two were related. Safety was another concern. My car was broken into, there was frequent police activity in the area, and I did not feel comfortable walking my dog alone at night. I would recommend getting a Ring camera or something similar if you decide to live here. Utilities also varied but added over $200 to my monthly housing costs, so that is something to consider when budgeting.
There were some positives. The leasing office staff was generally friendly, attentive, and helpful, and they returned my full security deposit without issues. The apartment itself was spacious, the balcony was a nice size, parking was usually easy to find, and I met some kind neighbors. The complex also has a pool, a gym, and is close to walking trails. Toward the end of my lease, I noticed they started repainting the buildings and improving the property, so hopefully conditions have continued to improve.
