Look at all the reviews from actual residents, and not people that toured. That speaks volumes about the living experience here. I left a review 7 months ago, but for some reason it was deleted. This apartment doesn’t care about the residents and it shows. Furthermore as a resident, I can NEVER get in contact with anyone, which is ludicrous. You would think for these cramped studios, they would do their absolute best to make our living experience enjoyable especially with the base rent + fees being the way they are. The leasing staff doesn’t care, property management doesn’t care, and so on. Some serious internal work needs to be done in all aspects of Vision. I’ll be happy to come back and give an update if things change, but I’m not holding my breath. If they delete this review, I’ll happily repost with pictures that show I’m a current resident.

When I first moved into these apartments, about two years ago, all the staff and management were absolutely wonderful. I felt like I was at home and everything was accommodating and accessible for a blind person like myself. About a year ago, our property manager, Jamie left and Jennifer took her place. Ever since Jennifer has become the property manager, everything about this building has changed. First thing is that the entire leasing team quit and they had to rehire everybody else. I think that should say something about the management style. Number two is that there are multiple print notices everywhere around the building, including the laundry room that are inaccessible to blind people like myself and two other individuals who live here. Some of these notices are emailed, but not all of them, especially ones that have to do with events. We are never aware of any events happening in the building because they are never put in electronic formats. Number three is that at the beginning of this year during the snow/ice storm, the blind people and others were literally trapped inside this building because management failed to shovel the ice and snow promptly before it became a solid block. We could not walk down sidewalks or across the street to leave. This prevented us from going to work so we had to call out and lose money. Number four is that there are electrical panels all over this apartment that you can run into. I have cut my arm multiple times on these panels. Number five is the problem about the laundry rooms: the washers and dryers on the third floor are constantly broken and they tell us to use the ones on the lower level. The problem is that the washing equipment in the lower level is completely inaccessible and you have no idea which ones are being used or which ones your clothes are in. Since we cannot use those and if the ones on the third floor are broken, we literally cannot wash or dry any of our clothes. At this very moment, the dryer on the third floor is broken, but it still takes your money. The door will close and it will show that it’s ready, you pay the money, and then the dryer doesn’t actually work. There are also no notices barriers or anything to stop you from using it so they’re just letting people spend their money for a dryer that doesn’t work. We pay a significant amount of money for an amenity fee that includes valet trash, yet this was taken away, but the amenity fee was not lowered. For some strange reason, they also do not allow doormats anymore, which can be considered a landmark for blind people to find their apartment. There was no explanation given to why Valet trash was taken away and why these random rules like no doormats were put in place. Last thing to mention is that everybody’s bills have gone up because the utility bill is way more than it should be legally. I used to recommend this place to everybody I walked by but now I just want to leave and not tell anybody that it exist truthfully. I’m pretty ashamed to live at Vision on Lombard because there’s constantly trash everywhere and people think that they can just park scooters in front of the doorway, which is actually a risk factor for blind people who cannot see them. Everything about this property has become an inconvenience and discriminating towards people with disabilities. I cannot wait to move out when my lease is up in March.

I lived at Vision on Lombard for two years, so I feel like I got a good sense of what it was like living here. When I first moved in, I really enjoyed living here. The previous management team was wonderful always professional, responsive, and willing to help whenever I had questions or concerns. The amenities were also a big plus in the beginning. However, over time, things started to decline. One of my biggest concerns was building security. The front entrance door was frequently broken, which made me feel unsafe. Because of this, there were multiple occasions where homeless individuals were able to enter the building and stay in the first-floor restroom. For a building that advertises luxury living, this was very disappointing. The amenities also became increasingly overcrowded. As more residents moved in, it often felt like there wasn’t enough space to comfortably enjoy the common areas. It seemed like every amenity was constantly full, which took away from the experience I initially loved. My biggest frustration has been with the new management. I moved out in April and was told I would receive my security deposit refund within 45 days. It is now July, and I still have not received it. Every time I call, I’m told the manager is unavailable or I receive a different answer. After months of trying to get a clear update, I feel like I’ve been given the runaround instead of honest communication. It’s unfortunate because I genuinely enjoyed living here under the previous management. Unfortunately, based on my recent experience with management and the ongoing issues with security and communication, I cannot recommend this property at this time. If you’re considering moving here, I would encourage you to ask detailed questions about building security, management responsiveness, and the security deposit process before signing a lease.

Absolutely terrible management. The move out process was a complete nightmare. They are quick to charge you for everything they possibly can but when its time to answer questions or return your security deposit, they suddenly disappear. Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone or reply to emails. Customer service is practically nonexistent. I have made multiple attempts to get answers and have been ignored . If your thinking about renting here be extremely careful. Take photos, save every email, and document everything because you may end up fighting to get your own money back. This has been one of the most frustrating rental experiences I have ever had, and I would never recommend this place to anyone.

So far, so great! I’ve been in a studio for nearly a month. The staff has been professional, warm, and amazing at helping me get into a place quickly and making sure that everything in my place is perfect. I’m in an upper floor unit. My experience is that tenants are respectful, quiet, and nice in general. The amenities areas are wonderful (although I’ve been meaning to ask them to not use so much air freshener in the common areas. It’s too strong). The staff planned and hosted a pool party for tenants about a week after I arrived. I loved it. It was such a great experience, I wish there were more events such as weekly programming, but that’s just me wishing. As for my studio space, it’s very clean and simple. If you’re going to be moving here, I recommend having some additional kitchen appliances if you cook a lot. The hot surface has two burners and it’s not super hot, fast, or powerful. So I’m glad I’ve got my own electric frying pan, air fryer, electric kettle, and crock pot, (in addition to the kitchenette’s hot surface for cooking). In general, the hot water and water pressure are great. Electricity: It’s the middle of summer and so far, even when it’s 100 degrees, my unit stays cool without using the air conditioner much. The building is probably well designed and energy efficient as it used to be a hotel. I do hope that conversely, I wont need to use the heater a lot in winter. I also hope the “communal” water bill won’t be a bank breaker when it comes. There are a couple of annoyances I have with my studio. (1) The refrigerators are not frost free. I am not looking forward to the mess and inconvenience of having to defrost a fridge. Ugh. (2) I can’t open my window and the ventilation is poor. Since I cook a lot, this is an issue. And my clothes closet doesn’t have a door. I try and manage odors and keep the place and my closet of clothes smelling fresh. The fan over the cooking area only pulls up the air and spreads it into the apartment instead of sending it through a vent and out of my unit into the hallway or outside of the building or something. So I’m running the air conditioner more than I need to and running fans in all rooms to keep air circulating and recycled. I burn charcoal too and have some fancy deodorizing plug-in fan units (instead of a more expensive air purifier) to help keep the place smelling fresh yet natural. I literally want to open my door while cooking and let the scents flow out into the hallway until after I’ve finished cooking something strong smelling or garlicky. The WiFi is super strong. When a doctor friend came to visit though, he had to use his hotspot to access the internet on his devices since the WiFi was not private enough for him. I’ve been meaning to look into a VPN or some ways to protect my devices when connected. Lastly, overall, I am very pleased with the staff, the way the building is being managed, the caliber and neighborliness of the tenants, the cleanliness of the building, and the style and quantity of amenities that help you forget that you’re in a little studio or one-bedroom apartment and give you nice options for interactions with tenants and your own quests. It's also very quiet. I can hardly hear "the city" traffic, so the building's soundproofing must be pretty good. Living on a upper floor might be a factor also. So far, I really like living here! It is a great choice.
